None of them come close to the amount of time JB spent traveling to Albany to watch Sam Perkins. If I remember, I think he went over 25 times to watch him play. JB, not assistants. How times have changed. One of the toughest recruits JB lost.

And - add in the existing relationship he had with the coach, and it was clear for a while that we were gonna be the bridesmaid again on this one.

There’s no amount of just recruit HARDER!! that can overcome those things.

He is far from that his players to a man ADORE him! I also know him personally as I have coached both Patrick and Connor in my AAU program - he is much closer to his players than (based on what I read here) JB is to his.

Never met him or his children but I'd bet 100-1 not one of his players would use the word adore when explaining their feelings about their coach.

James Thomas? Kid was good, I think at the FF in 2003 I read that we never recruited him and wasn't happy about it. But that was a long time ago and well Bourbon St is there. So take it with grain of rye.

Yeah, that's him. I couldn't remember the time he actually played there. My wife is from Schenectady, so stuff like that always pops to me when I see it.
