C William Kyle (NE) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (3/27/25)

If he's the #2 depth center then I'm all for this...I really hope this isn't our starter though. We're going to need more from a starter than someone who barely played at UCLA

The guy was one of the top transfers last year. He got hurt early at UCLA and never consistently kicked it into high gear. Amazing how you have labeled him a backup before he steps foot on campus.

I’m pretty sure the budget is significantly bigger, like maybe 4x as big as it was this season. So when you put that into perspective, 700k kind of checks out.

One of the top transfer before last season. Was the defensive player of the year as a sophomore. It seems like a good chance Kyle is a starter and gets 25 minutes a game. I still believe Donnie is going to play some minutes as the “center”. Plus if Kyle stinks we can yell GD Kyle in a Cartman voice.

I would love to see us add another player of his type that he can split minutes with. I did see he dealt and recovered from an injury and perhaps UCLA was just not a fit for what they do. It’s clear we are valuing defense and shot blocking at the center position. Which I completely agree with considering we should have forwards that can be interior scoring threats plus JJ ability to slash.

Saw on3 reported minimum for a p4 starter is 500k, add that in with inflation from schools being able to pay now. 700k isn’t as high as other schools are paying guys.

What am I missing? He’s averaged a block a game for his career to this point and wasn’t a major shot blocker at SDSU.

Definitely better than what we’ve had in that regard but is he really a big time shot blocking presence, especially at 6’9”? I love the athleticism so that should help.
