C William Kyle (NE) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (3/27/25)

The guy was one of the top transfers last year. He got hurt early at UCLA and never consistently kicked it into high gear. Amazing how you have labeled him a backup before he steps foot on campus.
In the NCAA tournament (2 games) he played a total of 10 minutes, made 1 basket and grabbed 1 rebound. Im not sure banking our season on a guy who played less than 10 minutes a game this year is smart. I hope I'm wrong

I hope that wasn’t the price..

That's more than some NBA backup centres make. Ok not quite - but it close to 50% of the NBA league minimum. And more than an NBA 2 way contract!

3 points and 2 rebounds in 10 minutes per game.

This place is funny.
I think the hope is he can return to his South Dakota St form (13 pt, 7 rb, 1.6 blocks a game). As a backup could be decent…puzzling decision LY to transfer to be the 3rd C at UCLA (except for chasing the $$$).

SD ST is a lower level though. Unlikely to get that production.

There's no doubt with our excellent coaching and proven ability to help players improve year over year that this guy is about to unlock has potential for Syracuse in 2025-2026
I, for one, am pretty excited to see how Cabiles + Mario & Salvo’s enhances his physique while he’s under the tutelage of renowned big man guru Allen Griffin.

Ideally he’s a backup but I’m ok with him at the 5 especially if it means we don’t overpay for Ballard.

This is where we have to live in transfer land - we aren’t an elite program. This kid performed well enough ar the mid major level to be one of the most sought after transfers. Didn’t work out for him at his first P5 school but the potential is still there. I’m ok with going after this type of kids especially when the athleticism and length is obvious.

I just don’t see us getting guys like Donovan Dent, at least until we start winning more

Don't forget the Marlboros ;)

Nice pickup. The center position should be a a 3 way split. We got two pieces. Pickup a third big that can give some minutes and we’re set in the front court.

It’s all about the guards this year.
Who is the 2nd piece right now? We have no other centers

Nice pickup? This guy averaged 3 points and 2 rebounds per game. If he is a “nice pickup”, who isn’t?

What am I missing? He’s averaged a block a game for his career to this point and wasn’t a major shot blocker at SDSU.

Definitely better than what we’ve had in that regard but is he really a big time shot blocking presence, especially at 6’9”? I love the athleticism so that should help.
7'3 arm length. 44 Vertical. Your answer is yes.

Love this pickup. Athletic, physical, tough and plays hard and is 6’9”. You don’t get this from someone coming out of high school. He looks like a better Jeremy McNeil. I read yesterday his injury set him back last year at UCLA and he was never able to get back into the rotation. He’s coming from a Power Four school so he knows what to expect. These are the kind of guys that have just beat us up over the years. We just got much better defensively. He’s one piece, he’s not the savior. This is an example of Kline doing his homework. It’s funny that he already visited and nothing was known about it. Red does like to keep things quiet. I would like to get Cronin’s take on the kid.
