Calvin Russell practicing with the team

Who is he? Is this a great thing or a complication our team doesn’t need? I guess I’ll have to look him up.

Unless there's more information than what's in the tweet, the topic headline is misleading.

Well, that’s wonderful. BUT CAN HE SHOOT??

Tough to find high school stats (which still blows my mind), but I’m going to assume the 6’6” crazy athlete would have been a 4+ star basketball recruit, minimum, if he could shoot.

I don’t see bball recruiting rankings for him at all, so I’m thinking he’s more of a ‘run around and dunk on people’ type than anything. It looks like he played at Florida’s highest high school class (I think) and produced at a high level. Rebounding seems like a notable strength of his. I would bet he’s a good defender, since 5 star WRs would be expected to have pretty good agility for their size.

Disclaimer: the fist time I’ve read his name was 9 minutes ago

Athlete, but I do not believe he was being recruited very highly for hoops. Being on the team is more of a recruiting advantage so long as there was room. My opinion from reading the board.

He is not expected to be a contributor, but he wanted to play both sports in college.

You really block out the football side of the board lol. Has 151 pages in his recruiting thread. The biggest Syracuse football recruit of this century so far.

Haha yeah, I made a decision at some point years ago that I was either going to follow Cuse bball or Cuse fball closely. Bball was better most my life even though football was ‘my’ sport, so bball won out. I don’t have anything to contribute to football discussions so I usually stay on this side.
