Dan Mullen was the brains of the Florida OC during Tebow's UF years. Addazio replaced him. They did okay with Addazio but Mullen was better.

The funny thing for me in this thread is that while I would prefer Frost/Sanford/Montgomery, Ash is a huge step above what we had in Shafer...like light years. This guy is one of the top defensive coaches in the country, possibly one of/if not the top secondary coach in the country and a rising star. Don't let the co-coordinator title fool you; he is largely responsible for fixing the defense for OSU last year. Push comes to shove, Ash is the better coach.

Joey Bosa and Washington allow Ohio State to only rush 4 and get pressure. Sorry Ash is not getting Bosa/Washington to play at Syracuse.

Sorry this hire would be beyond stupid. SS shouldn't be replaced by another SS.

There's an up and coming graduate assistant at Texas Tech I've heard were interested in interviewing. His dad went to school with Coyle.

No he is full blockhead. Just watched interviews with him. Meat head for sure. Lives for long walks on the beach, time with his family, rock fights, punting on 4th down and ball control. Too young for ear hair though.

What he is though -- is good at stopping the pass.

Too funny, see your point. Like I said he's a good football coach and definitely a pass stop guru but really not what we need right now. If we hired an FCS HC who was his own OC and wanted to hire this guy at a premium as our DC then I'm all in. He gets to lose the co d coordinator label and maybe a $250k raise I'm sold.

This guy will be disliked from the day he is hired, I would feel bad for him actually. People will hate a hire like this, guy will have a really tough time here. Won't work, he won't recruit like he think he can, will struggle on offense most years and we will have a decent defense.

Upside is white knuckling bowl games year in year out. BFD

I'll respectfully disagree and assume you didn't watch the OSU secondary in the years before and after he came and revamped it.

He has been a recruiting coordinator, that's good, right?

He does have a solid history and reputation as a coach.

Has worked at a bunch of schools in the big conferences, so he has to have some good connections. Works with Meyer so has been exposed to offense.

Not what I have been hoping for and I'm trying to sell myself on this.

If not for HC, maybe between the Coyle relationship and getting a new challenge and more money, maybe he's willing to be DC/RC/AHC?
