Chris Carlson on SU & Weitsman

This is the line right here. To each their own I suppose, but..

This is pretty much the exact thing the NCAA is trying to get rid of with their new rules anyways. We'll see how they hold up, but he couldn't do this anymore even if he were in good graces of the school without a major violation.

How has the Chancellor never spoken with him? I am sure he speaks with the Lally’s regularly (yes I know they are also on BOT). I fully understand that funding your schools athletics program is not your primary responsibility but being a face and representative for the institution is a primary responsibility. He should be meeting regularly with all major donors. He also should own the responsibility of getting all donors behind the collective vision that the institution has and helping to keep all major donors on the same page.

I know for a fact that isn't true. 110% verified.

Not a lot new here, and I’m still on team SU. I do not doubt that the Lally’s have suggested that it’s him or us.

But you don’t tell $25m to take a walk over a guy who hasn’t donated hardly anything that’s not for tickets and access.

I did find it interesting that Weitsman paid Cinco and the administration didn’t know it. Which kinda supports SU’s concern.

Weitsman seems like Lucy with the football….he’s tempting, but would pull the ball away when you tried to kick it.

His social media stuff would make you think he’s a 7 figure donator to players. Not even close.

Posters here have suggested as much.

I think in his mind, AW includes his fee for his box at the Dome in his "contributions" calculation.

The dollar amounts in that article don't warrant it.

Wow! What a nothing burger of an article for us superfans. For the average fan this likely provides some good information, but for us it's nothing that hasn't been shared or discussed. The only bit of information I got out of it was dasher 's true identity.

Now let me go ask Siri for his net worth...

I wish they could find a way to co-exist, but as dasher found out, it seems impossible. So, a line has been drawn and that's where we are. Even on the board, it seems that there is no gray area. It's too bad.
agree

Honestly AW hopefully continues to be a fan but his style and approach probably fits being the guy for Lemoyne and Siena better. That’s not a knock just putting everything together it fits better. Should he get a change of heart and want to drop a big donation to a collective( assuming that model doesn’t end up on the fritz at some point) then great.

Enough of any hard feelings and over analysis. Big shout out to Dasher for all his efforts and the truth being mostly known but now on the record here.

There is also the feeling after reading that SU would lose the Lally’s if they embraced everything that AW wanted from all of this
You can’t lose someone already on the board of trustees ha. They’re in charge. You can lose a lot of other people.

That’s the point dude. He’s not a major donor. A million over 6 years puts him in the same bucket as hundreds of other donors not to mention he would have to be worried about their discussion being on AW’s Twitter and Instagram feed.

This article is a win for the University.

A low percentage of overall fans are as hardcore as those on this site. This article should put to bed the anti-SU bent on this...and super curious what the Etan Thomas take will be since he was taking up the AW cause.

The only thing that really surprises is me is why the Lally's would engage whatsoever. But that's a super tiny part of all this.

Did anyone else have to reread the part apart Make a Wish. In what world does the billionaire belong in the Jumbotron with some kid that is dying.

“ He said his request to have a Make-A-Wish guest shown on the dome’s Jumbotron late in the season was rejected,

“””…even after he offered to step out of the screen.”””

That’s cringe as . He was like put me and the kid on the Jumbotron. Then they were like no that’s not how it works. He's like ok I don’t need to be on camera just the kid I guess but that won’t be good for my social media haha.

That’s my takeaway. Just another billionaire fleecing.

That's quite a hate fueled jump.

He's definitely a bizarre guy. Was in the ring post fight after the main event at UFC a couple weekends ago. I had to pause and rewind to make sure I wasn't crazy because it was so odd.

Can we all agree that the reason Adam is no longer a donor is because the university was forced to make a choice between the Lallys and Adam? And, they made the easy choice as the Lallys are huge donors as opposed to Adam's, at the time, significantly smaller donation, which was mostly trasactional. That's the gist, right?

He has 17 million followers, he can donate to the collective and still brag about it, but chooses not too. What does that tell you. Its about him not helping SU
The 17 million followers thing always cracks me up. Particularly when this piece compared it to Melo’s 8 million.

I mean, let’s think this through. A guy from upstate NY who runs a scrap metal company has 2X the followers of one of the top 50 NBA players of all time, who also happens to be a cultural icon and entrepreneur.

Sure that checks out. There’s no way 90% of those 17 million followers are bots and ghosts.

Yes, I said this months ago.

Perhaps, but people make that kind of jump because of his past actions.

Telling people he “accidentally” acquired a website and then “donated” it deceitful as Fudge. He bought it and tried to extort the university for $250k. Then when the school said no, took to social media to at least get some PR out of the move. And even that backfired.
