Coach Lynch

we called plays with Dungey pretty sure TD could deliver if he needed to go on.. We called plays with TD hoping he wouldnt have to run and we had to go to welch

I guess I look at it from 2018 to 2019. Did the coaches change. No. The only variable that changed was who were the starting players. Did that cause the change to play calling rather than who was calling the plays?
To me, the play calling was very uninspired both years.

The fundamental difference was that in 2018, time after time, when we needed a big play, we called Eric Dungey's number and he delivered. Tommy wasn't that kind of QB and not having a QB rpo option exposed fundamental problems with the play calling that have been there from the start of 2018.

I like Coach Lynch and hope he remains on staff. But I think Dino made the move to bring Sterlin in for a reason, and it was a good reason.

Curious...people are hoping Lynch stays on board, which to me, would seem like a huge demotion.

What is his superpower? Not as close on asst coaches and I only view him as a former co- who froze often.

Like others are saying, he is greatly respected and liked by his players. There are lots of factors that go into the evaluation of a coach. This isn’t the only one but it is a pretty important one. Mike is one of the coaches who has been with Coach Babers the longest. I think he really wants to find a way to keep him on staff.

I think Lynch is probably a great coach. Can really coach up the kids, teach them something, connect with them...I don’t think Lynch is the greatest play caller in the world. I think he is very predictable (this is all assuming that he is playing calls) and it’s okay that he’s not a great play caller. Doesn’t mean he needs to go, just that he needs to have a new position within our program

verified reports or guessing

I take it you didn't watch our offense in states of confusion with :12 on the play clock in critical times and scramble to get a play off or call a timeout.

What did you see?

Wasn't Lynch co-oc with Lewis when he was here?...Lewis was the QB coach and Lynch the RB coach.
Yes. Co lewis, lynch, babers. Lynch and Macky were oline. (took over RB, 2018) They developed last years oline(minus Koda)

Being a good position coach and being a good game caller are two completely different skills. Im sure Mike is an excellent position coach. He however is not a very good play caller.

1. I saw LSU have this same thing happen
2. It can be miscommunication at a lot of different spots in the chain
3. I’m not sure we are 100% on how plays are called with Dino and Lynch. Seems like I read Dino has a say

Are we sure the Dino called plays? I watch him a lot and if he was, he sure wasnt doing it in any way you could tell.. All I ever heard him say was he had veto power and would insert himself if he felt the need.
I wonder the same thing. I'm not a lip reader, but when they showed Dino on TV when we were on offense, it looked more like he was in secondary role when the play was being called. Honestly, he didn't seem happy sometimes with his reactions with what was coming through his head phones. I'm sure I'm reading more into that than there actually was.
