Okay, what would our record be with the team we have, with BH coaching it?
I feel confident saying it would be better, and man, this season could have been so different if we had won a couple of those non conference ranked games where we ran out of steam.

But ultimately the lack of shooting, dribbling, and passing ability has really hamstrung this team (in addition to Red just not being a good coach).

why isn’t coach Brian the shark Hodgson, also known as Baby Shark to some, on the big boards for any other jobs?????? It seems nobody wants him except for a few terminally online Syracuse fans manifesting it on their Twitter accounts and in this thread. I don’t get it. Nary a peep of interest from LSU, Pitt, BC, and OSU fans. Are they asleep at the wheel??????

Exactly, I've been saying this same thing. Other than he's been in every publication for top HC's for the last two months but other than that. Nobody has heard a peep.

On the flip side, you've got a bunny rabbit named Hop who everybody is looking at.... NOT TO HIRE. Not one person even in D3 tried to reach out to him to get an interview after his stellar performance at UW. We better sign him up quick, 10 years out of CBB and everyone is going to be banging down the door of a guy who couldn't do anything with NBA players.

I’m sure he will to some degree. He might not be willing to give the level of access that some people might expect or want though.
For sure, I would give access still on everything outside the basketball product itself basically. But yeah they become part of the ‘family’ network. And the honoring and jersey retirements, etc. continues.

Just look at what BH did with Brown today and how it was highlighted by the crew calling the game as well. Now imagine a coach giving that same kind of treatment and one on one to George, JJ and Kiyan etc early in the year to get them on board and doing what they were brought in to do.

I think it’s common knowledge ( via the smoke and those who’ve shared things) that BH wants the SU job bad. To me that would have many a bit tepid in targeting him especially if he’s really in hot pursuit. I’d go so far as to say he might stick around USF longer if SU wasn’t an option and focus on further elevating that program given how well he’s done this year.

It’s ok Mike. Let it go.

Yep, and we've had so many heartbreaking/close losses this season that a coaching upgrade could have netted us anywhere from like 4-8 more wins this season including a couple high quality ones. It's a real shame; this season could have so easily gone a different way despite the roster flaws we have.

In this case I really don’t see it. We are at a place where this cannot be messed up. BH is not only the safe pick but the most logical. Hop is a reach and I think the the powers that be understand that
BH is really not the safe pick. He costs a lot more and has been moving around every 2-3 years. Also is in his late 30’s with a few unsavory comments here and there.

The powers that be are all old ass rich people that measure basketball coaches based on who’s friendly and who they know.

It’s an obvious choice to me and you but some people are still living in the past.

I'm confident that's what we're all hoping for. I just think the last several years has many of us, including myself, concerned that SU will once again stumble.

A little of the player evaluation and alot of the coaching IMO. If these players don't play the way he wants them to play or give the effort he wants they go to the bench. If they want minutes they play hard or they get no minutes. Same thing with other high-level teams. You play the way we want you to or you don't play.
True but the benching thing only works well if someone who plays better team ball can come in and if the player sent to the bench isn’t a sulker who affects other players on the team. Coaches have to be mini psychologists now and find what motivates a player. What works for one kid often doesn’t for another. Another issue is who the player turns to when criticized or benched - whether the parent, friend etc support the coach’s decision or advocate the player to retaliate, brood or in this new college sport’s world urge them to leave.

We all love Melo but him bringing Hop is not what Cuse bball needs. A Kiyan centric team is not what Cuse bball needs. It needs Hodgson. It's so crystal clear yet I fear those that will do the picking are blind. The resurrection of Cuse bball starts with Hodgson!! Don't mess this up SU!

The point of benching is accountability, not just on-court optimization. Even a marginal drop in performance can be worth it if it reinforces standards that ultimately elevate the team. When coaches avoid consequences because the alternative isn’t perfect, they send a louder message, that talent excuses behavior, which is far more damaging long-term.
