Coach Search Options after Autry

I also assume he is still annoyed that he was passed on three years ago.

If he has any self-awareness - and any awareness of the politics at the school with the first African American Heisman Trophy winner - he would not be pissy about it.

They made him an Associate Head Coach, and that helped him get his first HC job.

If he carries a grudge, that's going to limit his career, not just vis-a-vis Syracuse, but in his coaching career.
So many jobs come from past relationships. If you're going be pissy about past people you worked with, or snubs you felt, word will get around the coaching community. Don't model yourself after Danny Hurley.

Oh, by the way, everybody want to still hate on Starling?

He was the only one out there with the courage to try to score. And he did it in the lane, against a big team. He only took one three, for those who complain about his shot selection.

Donnie, George and Kingz combined to go 0-10 from three.

The only other guy to get 10 points was Betsey, who made 3 threes for only the 4th time this season.

I've said all along that after today's game, its perfect timing. One week until the next game. And the next two are on the road. Two weeks until our only home game. And thats it. Most likely one and done in the ACCT.
Yes 100%. I'm a few miles away you Mr, clifton park in Rexford. Got my brother and 3 other Cuse guys together to watch the game this afternoon with our families at a friends house. 3 of us have little ones so it's alot harder to get to games or be motivated. There was a time when we didn't miss games. It was frustrating today to just watch.

Any coach will be better at this point and Autry just needs to click the resign button. This quiet quitting crap doesn't work in pro sports and that's what we're seeing.

Frustrating but the best path forward seems to be giving the reins to the coach that is going to bring in the most cash and is hungry to get here.

I know Dash and some others are down on BH for doing stupid crap and being a jerk but one thing I have to say is that the decisionmakers hiring the coach right now are looking at the Fran Brown template more than anything else from what I can tell.

Obviously they're very different people but the common denominator is that they are both highly motivated and hungry to be HC's at Syracuse. They are selling themselves to us not the other way around...

At lest the tourney will be 76 teams next year so we'll have a better shot at getting back. The days of Sweet 16's seems long gone unfortunately because I'm not hearing that even with a little more money coming that we'll ever be more than a 3rd tier program for NIL.

He started at $1.8m and has small escalators year after year. Think he maxed out at like $2.7 in year 5 with all bonuses in place that were performance based.
If you know, is there a reduction in the buyout by waiting until the end of the season to fire him?

A good coach can and will get more out of less, so I’m not giving up on us getting back to being ranked and making runs.

I mean yes simply from the stand point of one more pay period. If you fire him now it's two more weeks of paying him not to coach.

Would a coach like BH, Schertz etc announce they are leaving while fighting for a conference championship and a bid to the NCAA’s? What would be gained firing Autry during the season? If a current coach is interested I would imagine their agent would be the one dropping a name to the admins telling them they maybe interested. The coaches and their agents would be well aware of coaches on the hot seat and not need the position to be officially open to convey their interest.

We don’t hate JJ. We hate the way he’s used and featured as the primary on offense. He scores a lot, we typically lose.

No coach would leave before their season is over. However, they all have agents and SU can start the agent contact stage, or receive interest inbounds as soon as they publicly announce Red has been terminated. Just gives the school more time for conversations and diligence to get to the right person as the next HC.

Taking 2-3 years to rebuild a program is not a problem at all. That’s a bizarre comment. You need to study Schertz and his offensive philosophy. He’s proved it at every level, and built a D2 power at Lincoln Memorial when he was a young coach, and has proven himself at two different mid majors now. It only took him one year to turn St Louis around, and they weren’t even that bad last year. Syracuse would be a perfect long term spot for him.
I literally said the 2-3 years was completely acceptable lol, but in terms of time of rebuild Hodgson has turned each of his programs around right away, which is attractable and what Syracuse needs. The fact that you have to call out something I called acceptable as a flaw in my logic proves me dead right. Schertz is phenomenal and I am very very familiar with him. But as to LACuse pointed out, fit matters. Porter Moser is a perfect example of that. Hodgson is an upstate guy who would provide juice similar to what Fran brought when he came here. Schertz and Hodgson are not as far apart from each other as some think. Both winners, great coaches. Difference is that Schertz is more experienced in terms of time spent coaching (and winning). But, Hodgson has experience coaching (and winning) in upstate NY and has experience coaching at schools that prioritize (or dare I say even have) football. And that last point is extremely important.

No coach with an ounce of dignity would ever do that
