In two years everything could be different. There could be a salary cap, conference realignment, collective bargaining, and who knows what ever changes.
Sorry, I fundamentally disagree with this premise. That's short-term, wishful thinking and does not reflect the realities attached to the candidate it comes with when thinking longer term.
Two years from now, Kiyan is gone, Melo leaves the program. Now what?
I wish Kiyan went to USC. None of this would have happened. The irony is he will be the first one to get booed next year if this is a disaster.I can say this with certainty - Melo has a package of $30 million (and growing) lined up for Hop. This includes nba players, local guys and a few that have never donated to cuse ever before. The plan is to front load that money for the first 2 years to immediately become relevant. But that’s what the deal is for Hop from Melo.
Honestly, no idea. I do think BH would be good at getting nil money for us. Maybe not theDo we know what the Lallys are willing to commit to Hodgson? I can’t imagine it’s anywhere near 30 million
If that were only true. The university make decisions period. Like Caesar “ let it be written, let be done!”We have some great posters here making such well articulated points. Can we get some of y'all on the local talk radio, podcasts and on Axe’s show to spread the gospel of why Hop would be an absolutely horrendous hire? I’m not kidding here. We have to push back on Paulie and Infanti and Axe and others from rationalizing this hire as it goes further down the tracks. Media pushback will be key to getting into the decision makers ears before they make another massive mistake.
I wouldn't expect anything in college sports to persist long term so it's not the drawback it used to be
In five to ten years, who knows what the world is like, the wealth is going to be insane if AI doesn't kill us all
Hop would have to put a top tier staff together, starting by overpaying for Murray at UCONN.That kind of $$$ gets you unlimited access, which Melo already has. I'm with you though, I'm struggling to wrap my head around the $30M number. But if the number is real and front loaded...
Supposedly we have a 3 year commitment. And I can't see KA leaving for the pros after this year. If he did, that would be a wonderful turn of events. And it might be only 1 year, after this upcoming season.
That's my fear.
One-time, short term influx of admittedly large $$$, that quickly evaporates. And we're left with another subpar, no-trick pony head coach who can't coach his way out of a paper bag [based upon what unfolded at UW].
Murry is not coming here to be an ass't. We have a better chance at Brad Stevens coming here to coach. Which is none.Hop would have to put a top tier staff together, starting by overpaying for Murray at UCONN.

Well, Lally doesn’t have a kid on the team, so there’s that.As is Lally's. Why doesn't anyone ever say that? My point has been
we need unity. And I don't see us getting it.
$$$ Talks! Prove it at another school and your value grows even more.Murry is not coming here to be an ass't. We have a better chance at Brad Stevens coming here to coach. Which is none.
His next step is head coach$$$ Talks! Prove it at another school and your value grows even more.
Mr. John Lally, are you gonna let Melo outspend you here?!I would guess the discussion needs to be is what type of cash infusion can BH bring in?
This is starting to smell like the Prince...Word is the money is growing. Yikes.
The point remains, the loser of this little game, will not join the other side. I wish they would. But I will believe it when I see it.Well, Lally doesn’t have a kid on the team, so there’s that.
I’m sure, but he’s not making head coaching money at UCONN either. His next step is head coach
