Just be ready if we need youI'm not needed, the university is already ruining everything.

Covid was two years? Hell let’s just make it 5 and we can loop Reds tenure in there, use the covid excuse and give him another year.Stop making sense.
Hopefully you told him to take the temperature of this placeJust sent John an email.
It’s a valid comment. I have not watched anything Hopkins did in Washington so am trying not to opine on his time there much. Wins and losses talk the most anyway. Can anyone please explain for those of us who are less knowledgeable what happened with Hop in Washington? Why so many have decided he was a failure as a head coach and we would be unleashing the apocalypse if he was hired here?
I know he was his leagues coach of the year his first two years. He went 48-22 those years.
Seems to me that is pretty damn good.
Then came Covid and his record for those 2 years was horrific but I dont blame him for that - there were horrific records all over the country. The two Covid years were a combined 20-38. Again I completely discount all of this.
The next 3 years he went 50-46. Respectable, nothing great.
Since he left Washington went 13-18, and are currently 14-14. This is Red level of ineptitude.
Seems to me there is more going on here than Hop suddenly forgot how to coach.
Listen, I have no problem believing BH is a better coach, as is Scherz.
I also believe GMAC is better than Hop.
But nothing in his Washington record suggests he is the second coming of Red.
You don't win coach of the year in your league, let alone twice, if you are a bad coach.
Again, Hop is not my first choice, or even my second choice.
But if he can bring twice or three times the NIL money as BH, I think he has enough coaching ability to get results and get us back to the NCAAT.
I guess what I am trying to say is I am not going to refuse to renew my season tickets if they choose Hop and the higher NIL.
Where do you live?Sadly, I am finding that during Ramadan many establishments are only serving alcohol discreetly, hence me having to room service the beers.
That post makes no sense.Stop making sense.
We don’t talk about this enough. I’m not even sure Englestad is a person. If they put some random fan on the bench in his spot I would have no idea and I don’t think it would impact the game one bit.And the best we could hire under Red were Brendan Straughn and Dan Englestad.
Yep. I don't know if Hop was bad at NIL, I wasn't following him at all. But his last 3 years in Seattle were lousy. And the 2 before that.
Like I said the other day, he hasn't been around a successful basketball program since 2019.
And what happens then, with ou plodding style, 2/3 zone, and losing recordIf that number is accurate - and not including revenue share or money from Vegas - Syracuse would likely have the biggest NIL budget in CBB for two years. I get why people are not on board with Hop but it’s hard to turn that down.
Fair enough. A lot of the highest paid teams have underachieved. I don’t understand why people haven’t looked at certain programs with good coaching and without unlimited budgets and think we couldn’t be them. I mean Iowa State and Houston were two of those schools we played this year.
And out of curiosity what if it's BH? Lots of people saying he just needs one year to turn it around. He has been presented that he also would recruit great and bring in plenty of Nil. It's been mentioned he would bring a couple of studs from his current team. Lally supports him. Same expectations? And don't tell me his up tempo will be fun even if he doesn't win. To me any coach coming in has to have high expectations cuz we already have cratered for awhile now. There's no long runways for anyone at this point.Say Hop is coach and spends 12 million on a roster next year. I would expect nothing less than a top 10 ranking, a top 3 seed, and a top 3 ACC finish. Anything else would be a failure. There would be no grace period. No excuses. It’s win now only.
I suspect that with the scary stories about Lyke that this may be a bigger thing that we thought. If the University decides Hop should get the job, they better not go more than three years with no buyout. The days of five year contracts should be over. The portal changes everything.
Put that in a high yield savings account any by year 3 we’ll finally be able to afford Dakota Laffew.Dont worry Melo going to give him one time lump sum of 30 mil for NIL and that will make him a good coach. What happens if he spends it all year 1?
I don't get it. People watch teams like all those Pay Pal Cal UK teams flame out of the tourney, or Rutgers with 2 top 10 recruits last season and SU fans are like, "Man, THAT'S what we need here!" while completely ignoring the existence of well coached teams with sane NIL budgets and coherent identities competing just fine in the modern game.
If we have Hop and $30m or whatever, I fully expect a team of overpaid mercenaries competing with each other for stats as we scrape into the tournament and lose in the first round.
She could be your uncle if she’s so chose even without the ballsIf my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle.
BH will get more leeway. He has to build infrastructure. Hurley and Golden didn’t win right away.So who

Life is all about luck, timing, and being the right guy, in the right place, at the right time. It's because his name is Hopkins and he played and coached here, that is the only REASON. PERIOD full stop. He has been out of college basketball for multiple years. He hasn't recruited the East Coast for almost a decade now and hasnt been apart of a winning college program since 2019. If his name wasn't HOPKINS, his offseason would involve getting fired from his player development gig for the Pelicans and that might be the end of the road.
You mean people who can actually coach basketball and win games that be a novel ideaView attachment 260524
I think wanting experienced, successful assistants is reasonable if Hop would become the HC.
So who

I think SU will go outside the program this time. Not saying an assistant can't be a part of the staff but SU needs a new start.“he lets Murray plan and run the offense.”
This is wildly overstated. Hurley empowered Murray and they structured recruiting and player acquisition around their offensive (and defensive) identity. Hurley is very much involved with every detail. My issue is that Hop had 7 years to modernize his offense and implement a vision or hire an offensive guru and he failed. Unless Hop comes in with a brilliant roadmap and vision for the program—including upgrading the staff and infrastructure from top to bottom and modernizing the offense based on analytics and advanced stats—then this is just putting lipstick on a pig. Even with that, Hop never implemented such a system and has no experience doing anything other than what JB did at Syracuse, so we shouldn’t even be entertaining this idea.
