Sounds like he likes Tampa. I'd be pretty hesitant to trade Tampa for Syracuse, it would have to be a pretty sweet offer.
Money talks

Maybe they mean 30 million pesos. That's 1.7 million US dollars. There's ways to handle that as part of the negotiation legally if the 30 mil promise is legit... E.g. An escrow clearing account tied legally to the deal to prove ALL promised money is actually there upfront and real (for example) and tied to be released to the school under contract financial covenants, etc.
However, I'm with you on that... more probable that said "30 mil bag" is likely just a marketing ploy to back Hop with no real way to verify funds availability upfront (and whatever is ACTUALLY provided in the bag after he gets the gig will be no where near $30 mil) is my guess... And we'd never know anyways (the sort of thing private SU is not going to be transparent about.)
The 30 mil bag promise is a needed big "sweetener" to justify Hop as a legit candidate, since his CV is pretty terrible now, no other serious P4 school would hire him, and the justification is bunk otherwise without the big bag.
I may be very be wrong about that, but that's just my gut take...
I live in Tampa, nobody cares about USF basketball here. It's an NFL, NHL, UFlorida, FSU town, even the poor attendance Rays are more significant than USF athletics. In Syracuse he's literally king of the hill, plus more local $ endorsements available to him. OK, so Tampa's weather is better, I'll give you that (except in hurricane season).Sounds like he likes Tampa. Hard to turn down a P4 program down, especially one that has a history like ours. If he gets us back to a top25 program again he will be a god.I live in Tampa, nobody cares about USF basketball here. What about the AD situation?I know for certain Wildhack is very aware of fans' desire for Hodgson and collective feelings towards Hop. Will it win out? We'll see. But the noise is being heard.
Tampa is frequently used to model worst case hurricane scenarios. They are long overdue.Tampa's weather is better, I'll give you that (except in hurricane season).
Yeah, it seems like programs in great cities/locations are actually hurt by it in a way. There’s too many other options and the local college team can only rise so far up the pecking order.I live in Tampa, nobody cares about USF basketball here. And throw in that people may actually be sincere about the their donations to the 30 million but things happen to change things. 30 million suddenly becomes 15 million or whatever. If it goes Hopkins way, we have to know for certain that any money pledged is real. There's ways to handle that as part of the negotiation legally if the 30 mil promise is legit... E.g. For crowdfunding apps like Kickstarter, the rule of thumb is that about 20% of the pledges don't come through. I'd expect it to be higher for the dollar amounts we're talking. And throw in that people may actually be sincere about the their donations to the 30 million but things happen to change things. 30 million suddenly becomes 15 million or whatever. I'll just say this... these are the exact same words used before we hired Dino Babers.
I agree with the sentiment, but let's make sure there is substance behind the marketing message. FWIW BH has a similar profile to Dino before he got to Syracuse. Before you say but but BH coached at Alabama... Babers was at Baylor under Art Briles before he go to Syracuse.
Not saying BH will turn out like Dino... I think BH is much more aggressive when it comes to recruiting, but it remains to be seen whether he can build a sustainable program. Dino never built a program before Syracuse and we found out he probably couldn't build one period while he was here. Again BH seems young enough and passionate enough that he will build something, but he will definitely be learning on the job.
He's just a minnow with a man- (fish?) crush.
Minnows are extremely loyal and mate for life.
It's SCIENCE.
You are either underestimating the intelligence of the Board or overestimating your own.
At least be intellectual honest with yourself. Negative characterizations like "alleged rock star," and "try not to take yourself so seriously" sure seemed derogatory in intent. But yup, you did not question his "resume."

Don't worry so much about reading it, just be sure to drop any new bits of info you getI just can't keep up with this thread, AND read my regular books. Too much reading for me.
I appreciated reading this post, if for anything, your writing style, honestly quite elegant. I for one voice dictate, So I apologize to the readers if I do not proofread, or if there are grammatical errors. In any event honestly I have felt that if you have an opposing viewpoint actually based in objectivity. You can still certainly get beat up by the powers that be. In any event, I very much appreciate fans of this University. No matter what it, it is still a public sports forum with subjective information and unequivocally misinformation potentially. Nevertheless aristocratic banning should not take place based upon opinion right? Especially for those who actually contribute to this program and certainly I trust see the big picture. Good day and thank youUnjustifiably, I couldn’t respond to your subsequent post until now. The alleged rock star reference was made as this is an anonymous cyberspace forum, where folks roll with aliases versus their true identity. Case in point, your 007 moniker…unless, of course, you’re truly a British special agent?
If Dasher (or anyone for that matter) subjects themselves to “aggravation” while making voluntary posts (again, on an anonymous web sports forum) then yeah, perhaps one shouldn’t take it/themselves so seriously. Hence, the count to ten/breathing reference, as well as the emoji at the end of my original post; an attempt in keeping the matter light. Preserving my “intellectual honesty,” if you maintain thinking it’s a negative characterization and/or derogatory assertion, so be it. As with anything, folks will interpret, believe, etc. things as they see fit.
The premise was one of affect, emotional impact, etc. The weight of any emotion, positive or negative (negative here due to the ‘aggravation’ admittance) exists based upon the level of attention one voluntarily chooses to give it. Therefore, comprehensively, why give it any attention at all?
I’ll stand by my viewpoint that I wasn’t questioning Dasher’s track record, or success thereof, relative to his connections, accuracy, etc. Something I haven’t ever done with him related to this particular subject matter.
Interestingly, I received an immediate two-week ban, yet the deemed objectionable post remained. Other than perhaps, intentionally and unfairly being left hung out to dry, one can only imagine as to why that was?

I understand the comprison, and you aren't wrong about it being only a couple of years.
HOWEVER, it has been across two teams. And I think this trumps any of those "remains to be seen" cautions. I mean, look at the performance across these advanced metrics and USF's national ranking across several of them... and this is in Hodgson's FIRST SEASON at the helm there, after having to scramble to field a roster this past offseason.
This is EXACTLY what we need at Syracuse, to get the program back on track. Anyone expressing skepticism about "empirical evidence" with respect to Hodgson's systems -- here it is:
