So, you are making your judgment on people you don't know based on 150 pages on an internet message board. Got it. Well, I do know some people on the BOT. They love Syracuse as much as you do. They want to win as much as you do. Maybe more. Does that mean they don't make mistakes? Of course not. All of us make mistakes. But the decisions that are upcoming will be made because of what they think is the right choice. I am not overly confidant that they will do the right things on the two positions we are waiting on. I don't know. But I don't question that the decision will be because of who they think is the right person for the job rather than just some person they like.
Tell them to hire BH and any AD not named Heather Lyke, thanks.

BH is really not the safe pick. He costs a lot more and has been moving around every 2-3 years. Also is in his late 30’s with a few unsavory comments here and there.

The powers that be are all old ass rich people that measure basketball coaches based on who’s friendly and who they know.

It’s an obvious choice to me and you but some people are still living in the past.
He’s the safe pick and the right one. I will stop you there.
Cost? Who cares.

Moving around?…are you stupid? Or should a coach not jump at opportunities to move up the chain?

unsavory comments?…boeheim wasn’t exactly Mr Roger’s.

If you know a better or more entertaining way to get information and form opinions by all means let us know.

I haven’t found one. Social media is a plague and the other sites, radio and podcast guys are just retreading the same info here only a few days or weeks later.

So Dash, do you really think that if they feel Hodgson is the better coach they will be willing to overlook the (supposed) $30 mil? Not trying to be snarky, genuinely want your read on the members you know.

I don't think Hodgson would need $30M to field a competitive, top 4 ACC type of team.

That system + system fits, we could be really, really good with like a $5M NIL budget. Which feels more long term sustainable to me than hoping for crazy NIL donations to offset a coach with limited strategic acumen.
$5M total roster money?!?! No. He’ll need double that. $5M is less than anyone in the SEC or Big. MAYBE middle of the pack ACC or Big12.

I feel he could win with the money we had this year. 4-6 million NIL plus all the other money, totalling 8-11 million in money spent. I think that is enough money in his system to build a program that can win on a regular basis. From what people have said in this thread and what I have seen around, I don't think NIL will be an issue under Hodgson I he understands the landscape. I would rather build something stable like that than have a one-time random big sum of money that is promised and "maybe" delivered.

I think once he wins, that 4-6 million will increase, as people will want to be a part of Syracuse being a winner again. I think Syracuse would probably top out about 6-9 million of pure NIL annually, putting them about 11-14 million overall budget yearly.

Let's look at some individual games. No way bh loses to bc wake or hofstra. That's three more wins there. Better coaching and we beat clemson and tech. That's 5 more. Houston was ripe for the taking bh has his team shooting better from the line so 6. We probably lose to ville anyway and beats pitt by 30. So 22 and 9 heading to Charlotte.

I'm trying to remain optimistic. Seems like we want Hodgson to blow up with the national media as USF continues to win, which is starting to happen. This will give him leverage, other schools with a lot more resources will come calling (probably starting to happen). SU will have to make a decision. Might be hard to pass on the hottest coaching candidate on the market, but that seems very possible...

What are we supposed to do? We can’t hire him now. If we don’t hire him it feels very much like the powers at be will have made a short sighted decision.

I said NIL, intentionally. And yes -- he would easily be able to build a competitive roster for that amount of NIL expenditure alone, given what we're seeing at USF. And what we saw at Buffalo, under Oates [and Hodgson].

Nailed it.

I don't have any problem with the message boards obviously. I have been here longer than some on here have been alive. But it isn't right to demean people you don't know or question their motives.
