Coach Search Options after Autry

I'm trying to remain optimistic. Seems like we want Hodgson to blow up with the national media as USF continues to win, which is starting to happen. This will give him leverage, other schools with a lot more resources will come calling (probably starting to happen). SU will have to make a decision. Might be hard to pass on the hottest coaching candidate on the market, but that seems very possible...

What are we supposed to do? We can’t hire him now. If we don’t hire him it feels very much like the powers at be will have made a short sighted decision.

$5M total roster money?!?! No. He’ll need double that. $5M is less than anyone in the SEC or Big. MAYBE middle of the pack ACC or Big12.

I said NIL, intentionally. And yes -- he would easily be able to build a competitive roster for that amount of NIL expenditure alone, given what we're seeing at USF. And what we saw at Buffalo, under Oates [and Hodgson].

I feel he could win with the money we had this year. 4-6 million NIL plus all the other money, totalling 8-11 million in money spent. I think that is enough money in his system to build a program that can win on a regular basis. From what people have said in this thread and what I have seen around, I don't think NIL will be an issue under Hodgson I he understands the landscape. I would rather build something stable like that than have a one-time random big sum of money that is promised and "maybe" delivered.

I think once he wins, that 4-6 million will increase, as people will want to be a part of Syracuse being a winner again. I think Syracuse would probably top out about 6-9 million of pure NIL annually, putting them about 11-14 million overall budget yearly.

Nailed it.

If you know a better or more entertaining way to get information and form opinions by all means let us know.

I haven’t found one. Social media is a plague and the other sites, radio and podcast guys are just retreading the same info here only a few days or weeks later.
I don't have any problem with the message boards obviously. I have been here longer than some on here have been alive. But it isn't right to demean people you don't know or question their motives.

5 mil rev share plus 5 mil NIL?
We won't have 5 million revenue share for hoop. It will be less than that. And no matter what system we use, we need a lot more than 5 million overall for the hoop team. BH isn't a magician. We need 10 million. I don't care how you slice it. kids may like a system. They like money more. And I don't blame them.

Bahahahaha!

But it IS okay to insult their "standards" though, right?

Where is hop getting all of this money from?

Remember Jeenathan Williams? BH is going to recruit a bunch of guys like that, who are athletic and hard nosed, and get after it defensively and on the glass.

Unlike what some believed we needed to do to overcome Red's limitations by throwing money at the problem, Hodgson will get guys who are athletic, can play, will work hard, and be receptive to being coached up. He doesn't have to be a magician -- just confident in his system and ability to recruit to it.
