Coach Search Options after Autry

Do we have people that really don't understand the college basketball landscape outside of Syracuse and are leveraged to make this decision?

I mean, I watch some ball of other teams and other conferences and know the goods and bads generally, but am no expert by any means...

I'm just baffled that Hodgson vs. Hop is evidently a really hard decision.

If Hop wants another shot in P4 then he needs to go mid major and prove he's gotten better from the Washington trainwreck (and I don't care about BC wanting him, they are worse run than we are...). Give him an interview for sure, but he can't be a serious candidate now. The fact that he IS a serious candidate for us tells me we have people rowing the boat without scoobies. .. and now I got worry.

I think next year we shouldn’t expect BH to come in guns blazing. I’d expect he really needs a year to get going which is fine. He’s deserves more patience than if it’s Hop coming in with some large funding.

Remember Jeenathan Williams? BH is going to recruit a bunch of guys like that, who are athletic and hard nosed, and get after it defensively and on the glass.

Unlike what some believed we needed to do to overcome Red's limitations by throwing money at the problem, Hodgson will get guys who are athletic, can play, will work hard, and be receptive to being coached up. He doesn't have to be a magician -- just confident in his system and ability to recruit to it.

You know what I would like to know and see. What each team gets in NIL and what place they are in their league. I bet few schools over reach too much from their NIL. I don't think BH will either. I don't doubt that he will come close to maxing out his NIL. But we need a lot of NIl if we want to be the school that we want to be. BH's first call should be to Melo. even before he calls his fiancé to tell her that he got the job.

Allegedly, Hopkins has Melo and donors working for him. Time will tell how real
the money turns out to be. I don't disbelieve them when they say 30 million.
I just would have to be sure it was real before I took it too seriously.

You mean the convo with Melo? I don't think that is possible. Melo wants to win. He would never say well, if my guy doesn't get it, I will still work the NIL hard. That would undercut Hopkins. Plus, i think he would have to be convinced by BH to help with the NIL. I honestly doubt he will.

Hopefully we aren't stupid and have him locked up before March Madness even starts, like alot of the coaching decisions last year.

So, you are making your judgment on people you don't know based on 150 pages on a internet message board. Got it. Well, I do know some people on the BOT. They love Syracuse as much as you do. They want to win as much as you do. Maybe more. Does that mean they don't make mistakes? Of course not. All of us make mistakes. But the decisions that are upcoming will be made because of what they think is the right choice. I am not overly confidant that they will do the right things on the two positions we are waiting on. I don't know. But I don't question that the decision will be because of who they think is the right person for the job rather than just some person they like.

I will certainly question the decision and their judgement if they truly believe Hopkins is our best option. If the board and AD really think Mike is the best choice of all the coaches in the country, it's the Red hire all over again. I'll still hope, but the losing has made me numb really. No need to get worked up or make make my self angry anymore.

I will certainly question the decision and their judgement if they truly believe Hopkins is our best option. Perhaps they go Schertz in that situation? Lots of love for BH in this thread but others had other names above or equal to BH as well. This is one reason why it would be nice once the season ends and prior to the ACC tournament, if Syracuse made a official statement on Red. I think that just permits more open discussion and actions to take place. Give Red an option to coach or just have an assistant coach game 1 of tourney.

If it is Haynie, hopefully he and the committee have already identified the candidates and have held AD interviews and hopefully on Wednesday or whenever it will be announced that it won't be dis-Lyke.
