If it is between the two, as crazy as it sounds, I think I’d rather have Hop than GMac. Sometimes you need to fail to learn how to succeed.
People need to stop punishing GMac for Reds sins.
I really really hope Blair shocks us with a candidate we never thought we could get. If it was the ISU coach as mentioned that would be a huge pick me up for this fanbase. Really hope we get shocked in the right way.
Same for me. Only applied to 1 school since my mother worked for Utica college which at the time was affiliated with Syracuse.I went to Syracuse for the athletics (and growing up nearby w both of my parents employed by the school). So I basically grew up on that campus and a huge Syracuse sports fan. For me it was undisputed #1 and nothing was #2. The athletics were and are a major, major appeal.
I was a pretty good student in high school and likely could have gone to a better academic institution, but I knew SU was where I was supposed to be. Plus the free tuition (massive perk),
Anyway…. Destroying something that is a big time pull for students is just a bold, bold choice.
No one's punishing him for that. It's the fact like the rest of the Syracuse contingent his offenses stink.People need to stop punishing GMac for Reds sins.
They don’t realize or understand it at all. They just love gmac so they have irrational belief that it will work.Do GMac supporters not realize what a massive, massive jump the MAAC is to the ACC? This all reeks.
If they hire Hop, there is nothing they can say to get that faith back. Gerry will make the Syracuse.com mouth breathers happy but that’s about it
She's 144 pct right. My daughter mentioned to me that it would show that the administration is embarrassed about their hire.
Yup. I love my alma mater dearly, and I think people put wayyy too much stock in the US News rankings as some kind of proof that the school's academics have "declined".I went to Syracuse for the athletics (and growing up nearby w both of my parents employed by the school). So I basically grew up on that campus and a huge Syracuse sports fan. For me it was undisputed #1 and nothing was #2. The athletics were and are a major, major appeal.

Its possible that he came off as arrogant and unprepared in an interview, or that he thought that he was guaranteed the job.If this is true, I wonder if it’s because we don’t want to meet his ask. I can’t imagine we didn’t want him outright.
Then again I never thought Lyke would be an AD candidate, so what the hell do I know?![]()
Same, Clarkson because of engineering. And the athletics up in Potsdam, New York just don’t compare.Same for me. Only applied to 1 school since my mother worked for Utica college which at the time was affiliated with Syracuse.
Agreed they won’t fit into that criteria at all, but do we know if anyone that does is actually interested in the job?How do either fit into what Wildhack said; intend to hire a proven winner, who can recruit at the highest level, develop players and compete for championships.
It's really hard to spin that either Syracuse guy fits that criteria.
We need a clean break from the JB tree. I'll be extremely disappointed if we don't.
Not sure why. He is not proven and another JB tree hire. Like Red he was there for the downturn in the program. It’s Red 2.0. They will give him a 5 year contract. If he cannot turn things around we will keep hearing from JB that he needs 5 years, it’s the players fault and not enough nil. Even the die hard fans are tired of these Legecy hires when there are better candidates available.Amazes me the total lack of support for GMac on this board. I know it shouldn't.
Shaheen Holloway, if you consider the BE a power conference, which is debatable these daysAccording to my limited research, there has NEVER been a MAAC coach that has been hired directly to a Power conference school from the MAAC. The jump would be massive if its Gmac...
Didn't mcaffery go right to Iowa from siena?According to my limited research, there has NEVER been a MAAC coach that has been hired directly to a Power conference school from the MAAC. The jump would be massive if its Gmac...
(Besides Pitino from Iona to St John's, but that really doesnt count)
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic. Fran McCaffrey and Paul Hewitt are two alone just from Siena.According to my limited research, there has NEVER been a MAAC coach that has been hired directly to a Power conference school from the MAAC. The jump would be massive if its Gmac...

On 2nd look, Shaheen Holloway from St Peter's to Seton Hall. Certainly not as big time as an ACC job, but still Holloway just finished his 4th season at Seton Hall and has yet to make the tournament in any year, 70-65 record overall)According to my limited research, there has NEVER been a MAAC coach that has been hired directly to a Power conference school from the MAAC. The jump would be massive if its Gmac...

That isn't true. Hewitt. Louie. Fran. Pitino LOL just off the top of my head.According to my limited research, there has NEVER been a MAAC coach that has been hired directly to a Power conference school from the MAAC. The jump would be massive if its Gmac...

I love gerry. I always will. The kid is the fierce’s competitor toughest nails, just like us.The maac stinks.
Used to be on here during/after every game. Don't think I've been in a game thread in at least 2 years and can't see that level of fandom coming back anytime soon if ever.I didn't watch more than a few minutes this season. I enjoy the board. If it wasn't for this community I would have a much more tenuous connection to SU basketball. And now that SU appears to be showing it doesn't care about winning or its fans, I'm not sure why I should care about SU.
O we know who it's going to beGuys we don’t know who the next coach is!!! Let’s not make assumptions and/or ruin the surprise!!!!! This era is going to be great!!!!!
