Ummm that is a problem but the likes of Pitino, Wade, Beard etc aren’t??I think Hodgson and his woman have an out of wedlock kid. Guessing that is a problem. They might need to get married (I know they got engaged) to get a better job than USF.
I suspect that is the plan. Bryan will get married (probably over the summer) and move up to a better job next year.
In the meantime, his agent will tell Goodman he ‘turned down’ PC as well and is going to stay at USF. He might well get a raise but don’t expect USF to add a big fee for leaving for another job.
Meanwhile SU and PC will hire candidates with better backgrounds this cycle.
I don't think tomcat had "info" about that. It just sounds like speculation based on how he phrased it. Or that he just didn't use the sarcasm font. There's no way that's the issue. In the year 2026, an out of wedlock child is an issue? This is certifiably insane. Not doubting your info but what the hell?!
Only in an Italian restaurant with his mistress close byShould I mention Pitino?
Someone with X should respond "Etan perhaps your hefty nil donations could help keep them in the fold! Can you confirm if you have donated therefore want to be part of the solution for Syracuse basketball?"In one of his replies, he references that what if the new coach has no connection to Kiyan and Sadiq and they don't want to play for him?
That's the criteria? Good lord.
paragraphs are your friend, my friend......Gut feeling . The events of the last 24 hours is complete malarkey. Jeff Goodman and others in the media are not reporting news, they are reporting an agent maneuvering the market, that does not just include and affect Bryan Hodgson, but also Gerry McNamara, you can argue it's affecting Gerry McNamara even more than Bryan Hodgson. The timing on Tuesday Night around the start of the tournament. Before the new AD was even introduced to the public (happening tomorrow right before the start of the 1st round games). That doesn't mean that I think Hodgson will be the coach in the end it's that I wouldn't be surprised if there is a change in direction and it does become him after all. I'll say 5% chance of it ending up being him and this was misleading reporting from Goodman. Point is, I think this is about to get interesting. Jim Boeheim quoted in an interview today, "They need a good coach. A winner. Doesn't matter where he's from or who he is". Jim Boeheim has indirectly given Syracuse the blessing and mostly the message that Syracuse needs to do whatever it takes to win again. Major progress from JB in that department. I'll say this, it makes no sense to me that Syracuse is lacking resources for a power conference school and it also makes no sense to me that no one has figured out that with all the season tickets they sell, the ceiling for this program that they don't have resources, and don't have an urgency to invest more into it. People love to call out Syracuse as irrelevant and past it's prime, can't be saved, talk down on its prestige, etc. Then why does everyone keep talking about it? Because Syracuse is relevant and news related to it is reaching people. Syracuse is investing. I did not expect that Syracuse would be able to poach a sitting AD at another institution. Quite frankly shocked they were able to do it based on how everyone was talking and thinking. Are we in for another surprise, poaching another P4 coach, even crazier a former NBA head coach, like when Larry Brown went to SMU. This program despite all its struggles is still getting featured on the big stages (embarrassing themselves), but still getting the platform. Despite the coaching, the supposedly lack of resources, Syracuse was still winning double digit games over the last few years (not an accomplishment, but if your rooting for this program to completely break, you have to try a lot freaking harder). If you believe we have hit rock bottom, I felt that around January of 2025, then leave the negativity at the door. Syracuse should be operating moving forward in basketball with no pressure and expectation. Simply unapologetically about winning. And if they don't, who cares, we've already been defeated. Approach this thing with a house money mentality now.
I mean Golden was accused of sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, and stalking. But dating someone is frowned upon.
It was suggested that she was a student and he was a coach at the same school. That unremote enough? And she wasn't an undergrad at OU.This guy?
Ohio University fired head football coach
Brian Smith in December 2025 following an investigation that revealed an extramarital affair with an undergraduate student, along with allegations of on-campus alcohol misuse. Smith was dismissed for violating his contract, though his attorney argued no written policy prevented student-dating.
How is that remotely close to the same situation as Hodgson and his fiancée happening to meet and form a relationship when they did?
You think JB could be saying that because he knows it’s Hop or GMac? Then he can say, yep, they got it right?Gut feeling . The events of the last 24 hours is complete malarkey. That's no fun.I’m just going to wait until Thamel posts on X telling us who our new coach is.
Does that really sound plausible though? I don’t think so.If Syracuse really didn't hire BH because of "morality" issues then lots of people on the hill should be ashamed of themselves. Talk about throwing stones from a glass house.
I hope this isn’t the case, really hope they surprise us and land a good head coach from outside the “family”.I am fully expecting the hire to be Gerry and he will likely have a decent allotment for assistants. Whether he brings in someone outside the Cuse family or not to sit on the bench with him is a big question. He will need a proven recruiter and a proven offensive mind. God willing Syracuse gives him a nice enough budget to work with for all these things.
Yup. No one wants us talking about stones . Trust me.If Syracuse really didn't hire BH because of "morality" issues then lots of people on the hill should be ashamed of themselves. Talk about throwing stones from a glass house.
It's not the 60's. There is no possible way that's an issue. Also would be illegal in NYS. Hard to prove discrimination, but if that was an actual basis, New York bans discrimination on familial status.I think Hodgson and his woman have an out of wedlock kid. Guessing that is a problem. They might need to get married (I know they got engaged) to get a better job than USF.

Since when was Syracuse a religious institution? In the year 2026, an out of wedlock child is an issue? This is certifiably insane. Not doubting your info but what the hell?!

South Florida coach responds to reports he turned down Syracuse basketball job
Hodgson addressed reporters in Buffalo on Wednesday as his team prepares for its first-round NCAA Tournament game vs. Louisville.www.syracuse.com
It must be so awkward to have to walk up to someone after their presser to ask that type of question. You know what answer your probably going to get and it’s going to involve anger.BH not trying to burn any bridges with the comment about the great leadership and program at Syracuse...
He'd probably block you or call you something derogatory.Someone with X should respond "Etan perhaps your hefty nil donations could help keep them in the fold! Can you confirm if you have donated therefore want to be part of the solution for Syracuse basketball?"
Allen Griffin, former asst. coach, literally missed a conference game for the birth of his "out-of-wedlock" kidI think Hodgson and his woman have an out of wedlock kid. Guessing that is a problem. They might need to get married (I know they got engaged) to get a better job than USF.

They never set a legal screen the whole time he was there . Hated him ( them ).Watching his teams play is worse than watching paint dry.
And I’m sure that they would be able to get a decent rate for the wedding at Turning Stone. It's not the 60's. There is no possible way that's an issue. Also would be illegal in NYS. Hard to prove discrimination, but if that was an actual basis, New York bans discrimination on familial status.
I see you forgot your sarcasm font. Seriously, if this is an issue than we are destined for the patriot league. It’s 2026, not 1956 and we didn’t exactly have Pope Leo as a coach for 47 years. SU certainly isn’t known for its clean reputation. Not dirty, but we have had our issues and that’s ok. I am praying that it was a $$ issue and not this petty nonsense.I think Hodgson and his woman have an out of wedlock kid. Guessing that is a problem. They might need to get married (I know they got engaged) to get a better job than USF.

I can bring passion and energy and bleed orange after drinking 3 Vodka SpritesSurprised not to be hearing more on Hop here (at least the 3 consecutive pages i read a couple times a day). I think he's electric. We know he can coach, can recruit. He brings the passion and energy, bleeds orange. Liked by kids and adults. Hope if and when he's chosen, he gets full support.
