Not going to be Oats he has 10 million dollar buyout. While I think we will pay a decent/competitive salary and staffing salary and maybe even a small buyout. Also seems we are upper middle class in NIL and growing. I don't believe we will be dishing out 10 million for Oats.

NIL is a specific type of money though. The school had a $133M surplus in 2025 and intends to spend it on 'strategic initiatives,' basically, expensive stuff that affects the future direction of the school. I think it's what they're using to buy up properties on the hill/westcott/near east side.

If I'm the new AD I think I could make a compelling case that an Oats (or Shertz or TJ or whomever) buyout is a better investment than, say, bulldozing the skate park next to Harvey's Garden for a dorm. There's gonna be a super league and we want in, dammit.

Great interview with Pete Thamel just now on WAER. Says finances will not be an "inhibitor" for Syracuse job. Described NIL situation as "upper middle class" in ACC but that could change quickly and go higher. Said sitting Power 5 coaches have expressed interest.

Of course. Although I will be a cheapo date. I haven't had a drink since my sr year in high school in 1973. No big story around that. We had a place we would go with the girls that God didn't know existed and I would drink to excess every time. After 4 times learning the joy of the dry heaves, I said to heck with this. So, I just went and didn't drink from then on.

Of course it is. Some clowns (and that includes some on this board) who say Cuse isn't still a great destination are just not smart. Simply because we haven't performed well in the last several years doesn't mean that our program isn't still attractive for a new coach. When we start winning again, watch the flood of people who come back to the dome. It has something very unique that other programs (even ones that are elite) can't produce.

If we have good NIL, and Pete says we do, the Cuse job is a very good one, one good coach away from the Dome being packed again

I am going to say i would take mystery man over any P-5 coach we could get that might be calling. I think when this is all said and done. What was said about Hodgson and Syracuse will not look very smart. If it is Gerry, he will have a boatload of money behind him. If it is the mystery man or I guess a guy I haven't heard since what Tramel said is news to me, we will look very good.
