Coach Search Options after Autry

Yep. I'm abandoning this board for a few hours to catch Project Hail Mary. Because I need a wholesome feel-good story about the possibility that sending Ryan Gosling into space will finally get Syracuse basketball on a winning track.

Watched it last night. It’s great

First, I have no inside info. Let’s make that clear,

That said, let’s say if we go with GMac, we have $12 million in NIL. And let’s say if we go with Josh Schertz, we would have $8 million in NIL.

Who do you go with in a situation like that?

Bryan Blair already said in one of the first times he sat in front of a microphone at SU that it used to be you hired the best possible coach you could. But in this day and age, coaching isn’t as important. NIL money (and talent on the court) are now a huge consideration.

I think many of us have speculated that SUAD BB has been weighing a decision like this. His early comments may have foreshadowed what he is going to do with his first big decision as SUAD.

I think he doesn’t care about national perception. He wants to win. And if he does pick GMac, a big consideration was/is NIL money.

My personal presence was to hire Josh Schertz. But I thought GMac would be a big upgrade and a good hire. Provided the powers that be are going to back him with their wallets,

Let’s see how this plays out.

I would take Schertz and 8 million 100 times out of 100. The problem in this entire situation is that 12 million should be available to the best coach in Schertz. Schertz and 12 million and we are top 3 in the ACC. Again, not my money, so it is whatever I don't have that kind of cash, so I don't have influence. But that is the entire problem right? Just like when Lally was trying to use their money to get a person they want. JAB and the alumis are doing the same for GMac.

Schertz walked into Gabriel's Gate a minute ago with a couple of suits. They appear to be reviewing some kind of paperwork.

Gabe’s Gate used to make great wings. Used too. Tells me Schertz decision making is antiquated and uninspiring. Based on his chicken wing venue choice, I’m not sure he’s the guy.

Nice, a grounded rational post. What’s it doing in this thread ???

If this works I will eat all the crow I deserve.

If it doesnt, I will never forgive the boosters, from the very top down, who forced the issue by threatening to withhold their donations.
Same but it won't matter we will.be in the aac at that point during it out with temple.

Oh, it won't be in a few years that is for sure. But you and I both don't know the numbers and I wouldn't argue that I do. But I will tell you that I have been told by someone in a place to know that money is coming out of the woodwork if it is Gerry
My fear is we get to numbers that teams had last year, but they all up their numbers again this year. We always seem to be in catch up mode.
