Colgate Postgame

If we had this exact same group of players...but they were coached by a Tony Bennet, Jay Wright, Rick Pitino, ect...do you think we would be a lot better? Serious question
Absolutely.
No one gets more out of the talent he has than Rick Pitino.
And the other two are the two best college coaches of the past 20 years.

based on the threads from the off-season, yes, there are people who are surprised

I had some hopium that we had some diamonds in the rough with the transfers and hoped the coaches were savant evaluators... but I also had a nagging fear we may swinging and missing with some of these guys.

It’s now year two and I still have zero idea what Red wants this team’s offensive and defensive identity to be. It’s basically just five guys out on the court doing stuff. Does not bode well.
I think this is fair.

I'm not really sure 1) what shot we want our opponents to take and B) what shot we want our guys to take.

Truthfully I think the talent is better than the coaching. But that’s not saying much

Watched the game while reading a book-
Made this evening far more palatable -avoided the frustration full engagement would have caused.
Only 2 games in -hope this team eventually shows something that makes me put my book down.

This is a dumb post.

I'm not sure what is going on. Last year Red did a great job winning 20 with a dysfunctional team.
However we did have one player who for the most part has been vilified on this board. At this point its obvious to me that he single handedly carried SU last year. Probably won 6 or 7 games with him maybe more that won't happen this year without his skills. Everyone wanted a true point G. Well Carlos isn't the answer as he is simply too small and lacks the athleticism to compete at this level.
Replace him with Judah and tonight and last week are both easy wins. Bottom line. Judah was an elite player and this year we have a team filled with marginal talent that lacks the one guy to make them better. That one guy was Judah.
Unless I'm really missing something we are in serious trouble.
This team doesn't have one go to player. Not Eddie, JJ, or Bell. All good players but not even close to elite. Donnie is raw, Carlos is too small, Taylor is Marginal, cuffe, no, Choppa has zero D, Davis is a 7th kid on most ACC teams and Petar is 8th. We lack talent and coaching. We are at best a middle of the pac team. At worst it's going to be really ugly.

So we have a coaching issue potentially? You'd think, when hiring a coach for D1 and you're a power 5 team, you'd want the absolute best coach available. Was Red really the best coach available in the nation when the AD was looking for a coach? If not...why did he settle? Hire the best person for the job period. The recent buzz we are getting with recruits will die just as quickly as it came if we keep playing like this and barely beating teams that these top HS kids have never even heard of.

The problem is anyone who dare point out things like “yikes. is it good that schools the guys our starting PG picked us over are all pretty bad” and we’re scolded with ”YOU THINK YOU KNOW MORE THAN RED?”

Now I can safely say I don’t know more than Red about basketball nor can I say I know about the money limitations the program has, but I can say I was concerned the whole offseason about the point guard spot and Im even more concerned after 2 games

Brutally defensive Red Presser - the anti Fran Brown.

We play more possessions this year bla bla bla
Eddie's conditioning isn't there. We're asking guys to do things they haven't done.

Pretty much every hole that anyone with a brain saw all off season he's using as excuses. His response to these things, "we'll get better" I don't know...

Mentioning Dino sums it up. Red is like Dino last year, playing out the string before the inevitable and the University moves on
Please please please tell me that there is hope that this is done with in March
