If games were decided by recruiting rankings solely we would be like 2-10 every year. People don’t stop developing and some people plateau early.
I get it.
We've done a fantastic job of finding and developing those "diamonds in the rough".
That said - you have a much better chance of having and developing great talent, if you start with better talent via great recruiting.
See: Bama, Clemson, tOSU, etc.
I think I read somewhere that the current SU roster has 1 consensus 4* guy (DeVito), whereas the Twerps have TEN.
Sorry dude, I never meant to challenge anyone here about NOT being a fan. We are all fans here or else we would not be posting as we do. My point was that "we" as fans of SU seem to hold on to the "Lets evaluate every game and figure out which ones we are going to lose". I really don't see any losses including Clemson. I believe SU has a great chance of making the playoffs with a solid defense and an offense that will get better with every game.I mean, it's not unreasonable to think we could possibly lose Saturday. That's not me being a Fairweather fan, that's me being realistic that it's a possibility and asking a relevant question. But thanks for challenging my position as a fan in the process.
Our best effort with this group of kids goes 11-1 with a shot at clemson if they dont play their A game.
but if we bring a C level effort like the liberty game then 4-5-6 losses is on the table.
The oline drives this bus.
There is a good possibility of losing Saturday. TD will be a great QB before he leaves, it might take awhile. Until then we. will lose games, we might expect to win. The Big picture is to try to get 9 wins and get to another bowl game. The question is, Does Gameday come to SU if Clemson loses? SU is NOT losing to Maryland!! Some of you fans need to get on board and get over the "if we lose" mantra.
There is a great probability that we blow them out. Maryland is a bad team that beat a really bad team. Not worried about this game at all. There is a good possibility of losing Saturday. They’re reallllly not man. They have a ton of talent. There is a great probability that we blow them out. Maryland is a bad team that beat a really bad team. Not worried about this game at all.
So how will you cope if Maryland beats us straight up?There is a great probability that we blow them out. Maryland is a bad team that beat a really bad team. Not worried about this game at all.
Yep this is a Liberty redux, in the sense of me sounding the alarm last week saying “not so fast”, the usual suspects saying “ahh we’re gonna put 50 up on them”, same here with Maryland, anyone who thinks we’re going to blow them out is freaking clueless. This is a down to the wire last possession type game. They’re reallllly not man. They have a ton of talent.
As I said, I'm not worried about this game. I have no "Skin" in this game as I am just a fan. I don't take losses personally. I just have a lot of faith in this team and don't believe that they will lose to a team that has less talent then them. Seems like a lot of fans can't buy into DB's saying "Faith without evidence".So how will you cope if Maryland beats us straight up?
What makes you think Maryland has less talent? I think you’re on an island there. As I said, I'm not worried about this game. I have no "Skin" in this game as I am just a fan. So does Iowa. They have rutgirlsLooks like Iowa st. already has a bye in. Week 2? Can that be right?
I see what you did thereSo does Iowa
So are you saying Maryland has more talent? What makes you think Maryland has less talent? I think you’re on an island there.
Yes. How that talent is developed and fits into the coach’s system is a separate factor. But it’s undeniable they have recruited better than us if you look at the recruits and transfers they’ve stockpiledSo are you saying Maryland has more talent?
They do on offense and linebacker. So are you saying Maryland has more talent?
I don't think Maryland are bad by any stretch but far too many people are enamored with them dumping 79 on a horrid Howard defense. 79 is a massive number of course but a bit less shiny when one looks back at Howard's last competitive game when they got 56 dumped on them... at home. That juggernaut of a team that laid the 56? Bryant.
Another thing is form in last 5 which is shown on all professional soccer league tables. Green win, grey draw, red loss. From most recent Marylands form guide reads green-red-red-red-red. We score first and/or get up by double digits and it's lights out ladies for the terps. They can't throw on us regularly and not turn it over.
Money is going to flock to Vegas on Maryland this week based on narritive... And Vegas, as they do, are going to pocket it.
"Undeniable"Yes. How that talent is developed and fits into the coach’s system is a separate factor. But it’s undeniable they have recruited better than us if you look at the recruits and transfers they’ve stockpiled
Not sure why that’s so hard to believe.
Until we have 3 losses, the big picture is better than 9 wins. I get what you're saying though. There is a good possibility of losing Saturday. I think it's important to distinguish recruiting rankings from actual talent, particularly when it comes to teams not named Bama, Clemson, OSU, etc. There's a lot of subjectivity in the ratings and the differences between low 4* and high 3* is probably negligible.Yes.
