Marrone came in a purged half our team. It’s what you have to do to change a losing culture.
He had the talk with 9 players about leaving. 8 left after the talk. 1 pushed back and stayed.

How many transferred within a year, year and a half. It’s been a while but I seem to recall being down to 50-55 scholarship players at one point.
This has some of the details you are looking for I think. How many transferred within a year, year and a half. It’s been a while but I seem to recall being down to 50-55 scholarship players at one point.
I was told they had 31 players that were worthy of scholarships. He had the talk with 9 players about leaving. 8 left after the talk. 1 pushed back and stayed.

I recall some interview where he said as a team you can sometimes get away with being slow or small, but we were both.I was told they had 31 players that were worthy of scholarships.
I'm curious how many scholarship players are on their roster today? They've lost 46 players to transfer, 63 since start of 2022 season
The staggering numbers behind Deion's roster purge at Colorado
Colorado had 83 scholarship players at the start of the 2022 season. Only 20 are still on the roster as of Monday night.www.google.com
It was way more than nine. I lived with some of them on South Campus.
Gross
A recent NCAA rule change allows first-year coaches to cut players from the roster as long as they also honor their scholarships even though they’re no longer part of the football program. Asked about the rule, a Colorado spokesman said the university plans to honor all NCAA rules and bylaws.
Because it's not Pro Football (though it's getting closer to that). You're not allowed to cut guys. Why exactly is it "gross"? Because feelings? Cmon, he was hired to come in and turn around a 1-11 team, one that one analyst just earlier this week said they looked "really small" in their spring game. You aren't winning in a Power 5 with a small, slow team.
What a dumb article that was in retrospect. Doug had a roster full of FCS talent, and everyone(except Nunes apparently) knew that. Even dumber was the article they referenced wondering if the program was worse off going into 2010 after the purging than they were under GERG. FunnyThis has some of the details you are looking for I think.
Doug Marrone's War Of Attrition
The fact that 29 players have left the Syracuse program since Doug Marrone took over looks bad. That's compounded when compared to Rich Rod & Michigan (ten players leaving), Kiffin & Tennessee...www.nunesmagician.com
Actually they are. Army cut my friend's son just last spring. Literally told him "you've been cut from the team". He could keep his schollie, plus see the link in the post above yours.Because it's not Pro Football (though it's getting closer to that). You're not allowed to cut guys.
Bear Alexander transferred from UGA to USCBecause it's not Pro Football (though it's getting closer to that). You're not allowed to cut guys.
People do it-That doesn't mean it's allowed. It's supposed to be a 4 y/r scholarship. There's a difference between telling a guy he won't play and cutting him. I don't know how much longer I can keep following this.Actually they are. Army cut my friend's son just last spring. Literally told him "you've been cut from the team". Helps that they'll get immediate playing time and be second string at worst. In all seriousness what is Colorado's NIL scene like? Are these kids going for bags or just to play for Deon?
