Coyle leaving for Minnesota AD job

I obviously realize that AD is an important job...but we're in the middle of the best athletic year in Syracuse history, and there's still a couple chapters left to write. Not one of those athletes came to SU because of Coyle.

This is a great job that comes ready made with truly great coaches up and down the roster. We're going to be fine.

There is seemingly a lot to rag on him about in this current situation, but leaving work behind for a little bit when attending something for his kid isn't one of them.
It was a practice, not a game. Moreover, I was at the same practice keeping track of the lax games on my phone with other dads. I just thought it weird that we are all at a practice watching our kids and keeping track of the lax games and one of the only guys there who seemed to care less about the lax games was the SU AD himself. Maybe I'm putting too much emphasis here but I did think it was weird that the SU AD had seemingly no interest in both the women's and men's lax teams playing in simultaneous ACC Championship games.

Agree to disagree. I just feel like you're really grasping at straws for gripes when there are 100 obvious ones that are more legitimate.

Bees is the one who opened the can. I don't associate too screwed up to fix with someone thinking he's a (unless that definition has changed).

There's another term I'd use.

But would love to know more about where our challenges appear to be.

His opinion a whole lot of things such as marketing, organizational issues, internal issues, etc.

Was he expecting to walk into a fully functioning department so he could just sit around?

Those you list are challenges by which greatness is ultimately measured.

Sounds like quite the opportunity for a new AD.

So he just didn't want to man up and fix what needed to be fixed. These guys get paid a ton of money. Sounds like the opportunity was there to right the ship and make it his own. Leaders don't shy away from challenges like that.

Interesting

Based upon all I know about the Chancellor, I find that hard to believe.
What is logical and what is reality are often very different things. Mind you, I'm not blaming the chancellor. I think this may have been a move after the hiring, as Coyle started fully understanding the scope of what the athletic department looked like.
