Can we please get WFVU back on the schedule at some point in the future? Syracuse owned them of late and their fanbase is simply batshit crazy. It was always enjoyable beating the piss out of them after years of them whooping on us.

Maybe a 4 game series or something.

If not, maybe we can get Dumpster Fire U back on the schedule. What do you say RutgersAl?

Here's a little reminder:

I think the "Backyard brawl" is back on for the future; probably hurts the chances for a SU/WVU series going forward.

Doubt we ever see WV or Navy on future schedules. I would love to play both but neither have OOC slots. WV plays 9 conference games and MD every year. They won't play another P5. And if they need a replacement for MD they would seek out Pitt. Navy has 8 conference games, ND, Army, and Air Force. They are booked forever (well at least until the next round of realignment).

I would like to see SU schedule as so:

1AA - a three year rotation of Colgate, Holy Cross, and X. We have a history with Colgate and Holy Cross so at least it gives the game some kind of meaning. If you play Colgate every 3-4 years then you can get some Colgate fans to actually show, even more so than some of our ACC foes. If you play them more often less people will come. The last team X can be anyone that isn't good from the Northeast. Fordham has been good the last few years so they might not be a good idea. Nova no way too good. Being a private school I prefer SU help out another private school. Plus a private school is less likely to be good. So Patriot league teams Lehigh, Lafayette, Georgetown, Bucknell.

Ohio MAC team - we need to be recruiting Ohio. It is a talent rich state and not too far away. There are plenty of kids who slip through the B1G grasp and end up at MAC schools. They are good football players but things like size get in the way. Those are the types of kids we can and should get. We already play near Ohio every year (Pitt/Louisville) so families have easy trips to see their sons play. If you add in a Ohio MAC team then these parents have 6 easy trips to see their kid. It helps. So we should have one team from Akron, Kent State, Miami, Ohio. I wouldn't include Bowling Green or Toledo as both are typically stronger and the HS talent isn't as good in that part of the state.

A team in our recruiting region - this will help get kids to SU and will be places where we can actually get some road support. FAU, FIU, GA Southern, GA State, ODU all suppliment regions where we don't play often enough in the ACC. Temple helps Eastern PA, Southern NJ, and MD places we no longer play. I wouldn't play Cincy, ECU, UCF, USF as those teams are too risky when it comes to Ws & Ls. UB, UConn, UMass add nothing so I wouldn't play them either.

Possible non P5 exceptions - Army and Tulane. Army is a nice trip for the fans but doesn't help much in recruiting. Same for Tulane (assuming we space it out with the LSU game).

P5 School - we play ND once every three years. Those other years can be anyone really. I prefer avoiding the B12 and P12 for travel reasons. Maybe play Stanford as they are a beatable name school and fellow private. However they have ND so it might be hard to get them. The SEC is really too difficult for us to play. I would only be interested in playing Vandy another private. That leaves the B1G. I would play Illinois, Michigan, Northwestern, Penn St, Rutgers. MD would be hard to schedule because of the WV series.

So my ideal OOC schedule would be:

Penn State, Temple, Akron, Colgate

That should keep us Bowl eligible. We have three traditional opponents. We have good road trips and it will help recruiting.

wv would be nice, but i cant see them squeezing us in over pitt.

rutgers should be on the schedule.

something like 6x in a decade.

No, no, no to Rutgers in ANY sport or academic collaboration. :vomit:

Your ideal schedule would be ok as long as we don't get stuck playing in PA more than once a year. I'd like our away trips to be 1 regional tri-state, 1 in a nice destination each year.

You don't want to play USF/UCF/Cincy but Temple just wrecked Penn State a few weeks ago. Years where we play away at Pitt I would want to get some combo of FAU, FIU, ODU, USF, UCF. Try as hard as possible not to double Away games out of state in non-conf. I wouldn't mind rotating through PSU, Rutgers, Illinois, Vandy, ND as our OOC P5 game. Would be nice to get WVU or MD once every 10 years or so too.

Not gonna happen.

They have at least 3-4 other teams they'd prefer to schedule (Pitt, VTech, PSU, etc) before us.

Army.
Home and home.
Make it happen, Herm.

Definitely would have to take into account when we play each on the road. For instance this year makes no sense playing at USF and at FSU. So if you play FAU, FIU, GA Southern, GA State, ODU they shouldn't be the same year we play at FSU, at GA Tech, at UVA, at VA Tech.

First Penn State sucks. Sure we could lose to Temple but I don't see them being Top 25 calibre. I could see Cincy, UCF, USF being Top 25 type of teams. Both Cincy and UCF have had 3 conference championships in the 2010s. USF has been bad but they have a lot of potential. Temple has made one Bowl. Also Cincy is redundant if you play an Ohio MAC. Same with UCF/USF if you schedule FAU/FIU. There are better options. Eastern PA, Southern NJ, MD isn't covered. Those areas have historically been good to SU.

If you swap out PSU for the Illini I'm all in.

USF and FSU are in the same state but pretty far away geographically and culturally. Getting into south florida from tampa southward on a yearly basis should be something we strive for regardless if we play FSU away.

I have heard we are close to a home/home agreement with Vanderbilt? Has anyone else heard the same?

You can only play so many 1AA's per year, remember?

If Metlife Stadium were smart they would host a kickoff game every year. Pay the schools a decent amount of money 1-2 million each.
Rotate two of Penn State, Rutgers, Maryland, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Miami(Fl), West Virginia and have a preseason bowl game like the Cowboys Stadium, Chick Fil-A game in Atlanta, Houston, and soon Jacksonville all do.
It would get a good crowd slap a sponsor on the field and everyone wins.

We've had tremendous success in recruiting Florida.

How bout Alabama? jjust kiddin.
Alabama's on a downturn. We have to be optimistic. When we play the bigs well, we get interest from 4 and 5 star players. It's the only way to build the program. If we beat Clemson or FSU this year (especially Clemson because it will be on Game Day and at home), we will have Robert Washington's out the ba-biggy.

They did that for 20 years. Then with new NCAA rules those type of games went away only to reappear sometime later under new names and locations, but the Kickoff Classic didn't. We participated 3 times. Our games were some of the least attended.
