Del St Postgame

-wish we had a game against a team like Temple or Depaul before Vegas. A game we should win, but a better measuring stick/bigger challenge.

-Kyle’s stats were in just 21 minutes. This guy has blown away all expectations so far. His energy level is off the charts. In the first half he vacuumed up every rebound. Not just leaping ability too, he had good position.

-starting to get worried about Kiyan being a one and done. If the NBA thinks he can play defense he might well be.

-I still don’t know if we can be physical enough against teams with grown man bigs, but we have one of the most athletic front courts in the country with Freeman, Kyle, Kings, and White.

-the two proven transfers, Kingz and George have been the least productive and impressive starters so far. If they can pick up their game, and everybody else does what they’re doing, we will be pretty good, maybe dangerous. George has just been way too sloppy with the ball.

Even though Delaware state clearly is not good, our help defense and rim protection today was the best that it’s been in years.

Playing Drexel in Philly could be similar to Temple or DePaul at home I think.

I hope people will start giving Red some credit for the way this team is playing defense. He can teach defense. I think the biggest difference is the mindset of being tough and wanting to stop people. It started with the new strength and conditioning coach hire. Defense is a mindset. The rotations from the bigs is like night and day from last year. Kyle and Soure along with Donnie and White are always in position to cut off penetration.

After watching both games, I can definitively state we’re better at all positions this year, as well as having a deeper bench. Wasn’t a high bar to achieve considering last year’s team was the worst SU squad in 6 decades. However, this team does have the look and feel of a deep and talented team. They haven’t played their best game yet. I’m excited to see how they look when it all clicks.

It will be good to see them play away from the Dome. The Defense is waaaaaaay better than the last multiple seasons, but let’s see how they hold up against a P4 squad before we get too excited.

Never been able to figure the lack of energy for multiple seasons but it finally seems Autry has a legitimate bench to go to if someone’s not playing hard. Love Sadiq’s energy, love having a legit PG, Play D and run when you can. Picking up at half court, haven’t seen in years. More athletic and balanced lineup. Clean up the TO’s and we could be a tough out against anyone.

Big season for recruiting (when is it not). I feel we are at least treading up…finally. In Donnie we trust.

Kiyan is staying two years, per Melo

Whoever we played…it’s how we played. Beautiful basketball minus the free throw shooting. Two, three passes leading to a dunk. It’s very rare and haven’t seen team passing like that since the Wes, Rautins and Scoop team. We are nowhere close to as good as that team, but maybe that’s still good enough.

This team has me very intrigued I will wait for my for sure thoughts until after the Vegas trip. I do have some concerns, but I am very happy that we are playing very hard on the defensive side and we are back to out athleticing people. Those are two good signs compared to the last two years.

Donnie and kiyan are extremely efficient and Kyle is a man
Those three guys give you an as good as most trio. If JJ meshes and plays to his strengths, this can be a very good team. Needs a sniper. I guess Kingz is supposed to be that guy, I haven’t seen it.

Like the potential of the bench

Agree to disagree. George is the straw that stirs this Orange drink. So glad he’s here.

George is important, I agree.
Donnie is the guy who has All American potential.
We have to get Kingz going, and get Betsey to play inside out, too, like Donnie is doing.
We might surprise some people in Vegas.
This team could be really good, if we can play defense like that against the better teams.
