Development in and Around Syracuse Discussion

"He says construction would happen in phases over several years.".

I mean, yay, something is being done with it after all the former and typical occupants were puked out onto Erie Blvd. But several years? I'm curious as to what will be built first and then the rest will be pending ... like Destiny.

I didn't think a large scale project like this would be built that quickly. Hell, out here in Buffalo, there's a couple of three story apartment buildings that have been under construction for over 3 years now.

Yeah, I get it, but ... oof this just reeks of potential dissappointment. I'm also skeptical of DalPos.

This is from their website for another indoor/outdoor retail ... looks familiar except with palm trees.

Me too, that was the very first thought I had when I learned about the proposal. To me, their work is uninspired and they've got that Pyramid stink on them.

That said, I've got a lot of faith in the other partners' capabilities, and they did point out that DalPos has extensive experience with national retailers. That Pyramid stink goes both ways, I think.

this might be a h0t take, but the renderings look wholly uninspired. I expected the initial renderings to be pie in the sky, creative stuff... this is boring and utilitarian. If they are throwing 300 Mil plus at this project, how hard is it to throw some money at aesthetics...

Aesthetics don't matter for most developers anymore. It's why every new build looks the same. All they care about is what can they do to bilk the most money out of a project.

I also think that renderings for Syracuse stuff should reflect Syracuse weather ... snowing and cold blustery winds OR 95% humidity and 85F

It ain't Los Gatos.

I think that it looks like most of the same type of developments I have seen elsewhere. That's not saying anything negative or positive about it.

However, when they do the pie in the sky creative version, others complain that it is not what will actually be built.

That might very well be true, but usually the developers set a high bar and what ends up getting built is very average. Here the renderings are already very average, so what will we end up with lol.

agreed. some nice outdoor space, but also some nice indoor communal areas that connect between areas of the district... could even be underground like in Montréal.

Looks like a fake movie set, where you go inside the buildings and it's just empty nothingness.

It has that feel when you stand in it too, ngl.

But in its favor the Hibachi place there was legit af.

Seems like a Ridge Hill (Yonkers) type spot, or pretty much any newer build outlet mall - but with housing attached.

Maybe like that one corner of the mall in Greece - if they had been considerate enough to turn Circuit City into housing!!!

Not that this is the restaurant review thread, but I went here last night:

Legit. The scallop mousseline was fantastic.
