I read that story with a bit of trepidation, Joey's is one of my favorites. I'm glad Joey found someone that wants to carry on the tradition, he deserves to retire for pete's sake.

I used to ride my bike past his house and he’d be outside doing yard work and would wave to me. It was all very quaint. Bernie Fine lived a few houses down. Dave Walker lived next door to my friend’s house on Genesee Parkway.

This would be terrific! This corner is a key, key property downtown. Especially with the success of the Salt City Market, and locating JMA's campus just down Salina St., this could be a really good investment.

You also have AXA Towers jobs just a block's walk away. I hope they can do this right.

Its spot in the center of the flag represents Syracuse’s location in Central New York. The orange color of the star is the rising sun, and the central white triangle symbolizes the salt and snow of Upstate New York."

The heartbreaking end for the championship belts stolen from the Boxing Hall of Fame

The six belts stolen in 2015 from Canastota were part of a national art and sports memorabilia theft ring that was just busted.

"Canastota, N.Y. — Six championship belts stolen from the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota in 2015 are gone.

They were melted down and sold for scrap after they were stolen, investigators said in an indictment in federal court unveiled Thursday.

...Included in those thefts were four boxing belts that belonged to Canastota native Carmen Basilio and two to Tony Zale.

Two of the people charged in the conspiracy drove to Canastota to stake out security and the items on display at the hall of fame, according to court documents.

They returned in November 2015 and smashed multiple glass displays with an axe and stole the belts, investigators said.

They drove to a Pennsylvania home on or about the same day of the thefts to pry gemstones from the belts and then melt them down to metal pieces, investigators said.

The scrap was sold for about $400 in the New York City area, investigators said."
