Development in and Around Syracuse Discussion

Roundabouts and crosswalks are my everything!
Let's go!

I predict these ppl will get run over by a lot of Nissans and Subaru WRXs with all them trees!

The good news with this reconfiguration is that if you’re coming up from the south, you now have a direct access to the backside of the hill. Traffic will likely be backed up on business Loop 81 from the traffic circle a bit, but it’s something that wasn’t there before

SU fans clearly didn't attend any of those meetings or we would've seen an extra turn lane in that roundabout.

What is the point of that sidewalk if those pedestrians can't get to the other side of the freeway?

In the Subaru WRX's defense, the pedestrians should hear and see it coming due to the loud exhaust, the trunk rattling from the subwoofers and the ploom of vapor billowing out from the vape pen. The outcome is on them.

Ikea opening in the fall has been kept really quiet. Would have thought a rough opening date would be out by now.
Agreed...it will be awesome though to have one when it finally opens

With all the hassle involved in putting together one of their bookshelves, I can't imagine what it will take to build an entire store.

They've probably been burned too many times setting a date and then having to rebuild after finding a key component was missed.

Shoppingtown has huge redevelopment potential. I like that Ryan McMahon realizes that it can be more than just a lifestyle center and apartments and motels
Hope the development really finally comes, it’s been a horrible eyesore and waste for decades - same with Great Northern Mall.

Problem is the person behind great northern doesn’t have the resources that the people behind shopping town do

Then they ought to look at bringing in partners. Ten percent of something so close to Micron is much better than owning 100% of nothing.

This is true... One thing about the Dewitt area is the planning board and individuals there do not do anything unless they got a plan, and the usually do it with $$$ behind them. Clay on the other hand is a misnomer considering it is on the outskirts but Micron may change that especially with the mall. I can see Great Northern becoming similar to a Township5, but bigger and a better residential area too, apartments etc. Since it is already commercial/developed it would be easier for permissions and permits as well.

I think there's more to the story. I'm betting they had trouble behind the scenes. I took my wife and daughter there a couple weeks ago for a burger and it was bloody awful. I mean, how badly can you mess up a burger, or french onion soup?
This was one of my favorite places to eat when in the area for work years ago :(
