Development in and Around Syracuse Discussion

Now it's easier for Joanie to do Cuomo's dirty work with this new state job.

What's "hard to believe" is that they gave the property to Moonbeam Capital in the first place. It's been something like 4 years, and they haven't brought a single new tenant to the mall.

One of their former leasing guys is out working to get the remaining stores out of there and into locations on Erie, Bridge St. or out in Fayetteville.

apparently moonbeam buys distressed properties all over the place. I'm wondering what their endgame was here? Do they get any benefit losing the property in a tax auction?

They already lobbied for a property tax reduction (a major one, by the way) when they acquired the place in its last bankruptcy auction. Moonbeam will lose any investment they've made in the property (which has been none), so they can pretty much walk away instead of paying the $7M they owe in taxes for a property that doesn't have any tenants who pay them any significant rent except for the movie theater.

I ubered a guy who works for Pyramid brokerage, he said the owner is just squeezing money out until all tenant agreements are up. They will then let the land sit there and do nothing. He said Great Northern will be doing the same within 2 years. Awful.

webpage won't load. they stealing pawsox, right?

Check. Yeah, the theft has been accomplished and the $100 million for the downtown stadium has been given the green light. (Link seems to be working now)

I use it often, and there is typically 20 or more people on the trail when im there. Not sure why people are opposed to park trails lol. Are you living in the area, or just complaining about positive growth here?
I live in the area.

Did you read any of the previous back and forth posts with myself and the other poster or are you jumping in with no knowledge of what we were talking about.

If not, go back and read and you will understand my comment.

Not going to summarize 3 months of posts for you.

Syracuse Chiefs plan major announcement; Twitter move suggests new name

It wouldn't be the Mets. MLB has a policy directive against minor league teams using the parent team's name.

I'm not sure that's accurate, unless it's a newer rule and the Pawtucket Red Sox and Oklahoma City Dodgers (named as such in 2015) were grandfathered in. There are also a number of AA and A teams that use the parent team's name (Blue Jays, Cardinals, Nationals, Astros, Red Sox, Giants, Mets, etc.).

If it is the Mets...so be it. They bought the team and is expected to stay here through 2043. Syracuse is one of if not the smallest market to have a AAA team. The fans are in no place to bitch...or else in 5-8 years we'll be playing Altoona and Reading.

You're right, they can be the Mets. And I'm happy that they appear to be staying put, at least in the near future. However, I will never ever purchase any Syracuse Mets apparel, and I bet there are a lot of other fans who think that same way. Maybe that will be cancelled out by Mets fans that purchase more than they would otherwise, I don't know.

They would be smart to still do the Salt Potatoes a few times a season. Stupidest thing Simone ever did was drive away the Yankees...although it might not had mattered as Steinbrenner had roots in Columbus.

I'm all in for Smorol...I think he is doing the best you can do.
