That would certainly be great news for downtown if it were to happen. I've also heard that a local accounting firm and their 75+ employees will be relocating from the suburbs to the Barclay Damon building.

All great things that I love to see. Agree with the posts about that stretch of Salina, its in rough shape but does seem like there is investment happening to hopefully pick things up. I honestly avoid that stretch of Salina in favor of Warren when walking down to the Hotel.

I will say that in my neighborhood in Buffalo (Elmwood Village), a relatively affluent area with lots of young professionals, the main street is filled with shops and bars and restaurants, many of which have outdoor seating. Without fail, every time I am sitting outside at one of these places, I will have at least 2 or 3 homeless people come up to me asking for money. I even witnessed last week a guy come sit across the table from a med student and pester him for 5 minutes to give him money. Yes, it's incredibly annoying and certainly off-putting, but it hasn't hurt the vibrancy and development of this neighborhood.

I was actually eating outside of Funk N Waffles a couple months ago and a hammered homeless guy with a 22 of Natty Ice (it was like 10am) sat at the table and demanded that my girlfriend and I buy him food and coffee. After a few minutes we realized he had no intention of leaving any time soon so we had to get up and eat inside. Things like that are super annoying. It doesn't deter me from going downtown, but I can see how some people might decide they just don't want to deal with that.

I got hit up by 3 different guys while tailgating before the MTSU game in an SU lot. 2 were fine and 1 was annoying and pushy, but that was a first for me. I did donate heavily to the can collector.

I have been working at my law firm here in Syracuse for 10 years now.

In that time I have helped over 300 business owners pursue their dreams, whether it was advising them, setting up a business, protecting their intellectual property, negotiating a lease for a new storefront, or litigating claims they may have. I'm really proud of that.

My daughter is a budding video film maker who shoots promotional videos for new start-ups, established businesses and not-for-profit companies and service providers. She, too, understands that it all begins with helping people.

If we want Syracuse to Rise again, it all begins with helping people, in whatever small way we all can do, every day. That's how we make a better future for Syracuse, and it doesn't really depend on who is in the White House, or what insane news we hear every day in the media.

Just keep your head down, and keep helping people. It keeps you sane, and it makes you feel better about your day. Just help people. It's what we all need to do. And we can always do a bit better.

Luved that place. Used to work right across the street. spent a lot of time there. Their roast beef sandwich piled with coleslaw was excellent.

Found someone else who loves the roast beef! Corned beef got all the attention there but roast beef was the star in my opinion. Been missing that sandwich for almost 2 years now.

Anyway, their Facebook has been too quiet and they've burned all the potential buzz they'd have had if they'd opened on time. Hope things are going well and they're not burning through too much of their money. Would be worth it to put out a menu preview or some kind of update to earn another headline.

When Danzer's was empty and languishing and Willow Rock was building a following I thought there was potential for some synergy there. People love their beer. That’s what bothers me. Too much is predicated on ‘what everyone else is doing’ , ‘urban fads’, rather than basing long term decisions on the unique situations and needs of an area. I’m old enough to have seen the open small strip mall, enclosing the former small strip mall, then the enclosed mega sized malls to only see the open strip malls to return. Just because everyone else is doing it, doesn’t make it the correct solution . What’s right for travelers, commuters is what should be done, regardless if it isn’t faddish. No one should be promoting an idea just because others are doing it or else we’re using the same process that gave us the ‘progressive elevated freeway’ resulting in 81 and 690 in the first place.

I respect your opinion and your posts, but this type of thinking is what destroys cities in the first place. People that live in the city should diminish the community, walkability and value of where they live to make it better for people that don't live there? Instead lets try to make cities into better areas where people will want to live. And a number of cities have been able to resurrect large portions of their blighted areas by eliminating freeways running thru urban areas and going back to boulevards with sidewalks.

Urban freeways are so awful. The last thought someone should not have driving south on 81 from campus is jeez what a dump. Beautiful place made to look horrible with a road that acts like the Berlin Wall

Yea, the Keep 81 people truly baffle me. I really, really hope the NYSDOT decides to tear down that monstrosity.
