Development in and Around Syracuse Discussion

They won't come with wash and dryers?! That's a massive red flag for my age group, or any I'm sure. Yeah for that price that should be an amenity
My son just leased an apartment in the East Village (NYC)...a stacked W/D was huge. Millennials don't want to schlep laundry.

On Burdick Street in Fayetteville, next to North Medical Center: I know they already have condominiums there that can't be seen from the road since they are building a massive 3or 4 story structure that faces the road. Does anybody know if this will house additional condos or will the units be apartments for rent?

I think it might be this project...and pretty sure you are too young

Lazy punks. Why can't they just walk a few miles (uphill both ways) and wash their clothes in a nearby river like baby boomers did when they were young?

You forgot to add we had to break the up the river ice first to wash the clothes.

Unless you're going to the amphitheater and the fair on the same day, the aerial skyride over the midway seems like the most interesting and accessible amenity of all those listed. It's a long haul to walk the entire length of the fair and this ride would serve as both an attraction and a way to move people's butts more efficiently. I'd be curious what the weight limit is per chair - the North Carolina state fair installed a skyride last year with a weight limit of just 340 lbs. That would eliminate half of the clientele up here.

I guess I raised my kid to be tougher. Same neighborhood, 6th floor walk up, no laundry.

Will it be off limits to non ticket holders to the shows...? What about walk up same day sales,so will it literally be a walk up ticket too.

No clue. If it's pay as you go, then I imagine anyone can ride.

Whatever I say goes, I am the one who knows. My name is Andy, I am fine and dandy.

15$ mill for a gondola. sounds absurd

Would be great if it was longer and added other stops like Long Branch Park, Destiny etc so parking areas, shopping and recreation areas like the creek walk, Onondaga park trails would all be more accessible to and from the state fair and the amphitheater. Know it's improbable but would be useable for more events during more of the year and might help spread out traffic too.

$15 million does sound costly for just a half mile. Too expensive for a half mile ride. Wonder if there are fixed costs included that would cheapen the cost per mile? Just crazy thoughts.

If they're going to do this at all, they should have opted for a gondola system with larger cars. I believe these will be eight-passenger cars.

One of the reasons Personal Rapid Transit never caught on is because people don't like to be in an intimate space with strangers. Subway car, yes; small gondola car, no. The effect will probably be amplified in August, maybe more so considering the creepy hooligans known to attend the Fair.

Anyone here ever people-watch on the midway and think "Hey, I'd like to spend 10 minutes in a metal box suspended above 690 with that guy"?

I'll opt for the long walk instead. Hope the paving of the parking lot comes with a few tree plantings (and some maintenance and watering).

Don't you mean trees for watering? You are talking about the state fair and a concert venue.
