Development in and Around Syracuse Discussion

Welcome to NYC 2014...lol

Glad to see something like this though

Yeah the speakeasy trend has been around for a bit. Hope it's successful, though. Would be great for that stretch of Salina to fully realize its potential.

Rosie's announced on Facebook today that they are closing. Interesting to see what the "new direction" will be.

After much thought, we are officially closing Rosie's. We are very grateful for your patronage over the past 11 years, but we have made the decision to move in a new direction. We are not able to share any specific plans with you at this time, but watch for something new and exciting on that corner before the end of the year. Thank you again.

Interesting to see where they go with this, seems like an odd decision from the outside looking in but clearly they have lost some market share over the past few years. I thought they might reap the benefits of Jryans being gone this fall for NCAA and NFL games but I guess we will never know.

It wouldn't surprise me if they got sick of all of the not-so-great characters that frequented the bar on a regular basis and decided to use the major renovations/repairs that forced the closure of the bar last month as an excuse to reconfigure the concept.

The Blarney Stone expanding hurt Rosies.

We talking about JeremyCuse and DCCuse , or is this a different crowd?

I think your probably right. I know Fri and especially Sat night they have had some issues as they draw a younger more rambunctious crowd.

Best moments:
JeremyCuse dad melting down during the Louisville game 2011

DCCuse challenges JeremyCuse to a drunken pop a shot game during the North Carolina hoops beat down at MSG.

A syrfan hoops game watching incident involving sutomcat and “the lady of Rosie’s” who wandered into the bar at noon already drunk.

Best Moments that Lincolncuse left out:

Following a rare SU win, Lincolncuse was forced to leave the post game celebration and watching of WVU/Rutgers to attend a Pumpkin Carving party. Some politically incorrect names were used as Mrs. Lincolncuse dragged him by the arm from the bar after DCCUSE bought another round.

During the pop a shot challenge DCCUSE cleared 4 or 5 Co-eds from the machine in order for us to play only to lose by 30+.

After beating Lville in 2012 DCCUSE, Lincolncuse, Cuseguy, and SUbarney (along with my wife) went to Rosies to celebrate, many pitchers of Southern Tier Pumking were ordered and finished off and many of us suffered from the "runs" the next morning.

Right. Spend double that and build something special in a better location. Think it would be well worth the investment.
It makes too much sense so of course it’ll never even be floated.

This team is destined for Albany, isn't it?

Or Coney Island or Newark. Or maybe Uniondale?

I honestly think the Mets are going to make a good-faith effort to stay in Onondaga County. But they'll be quick to jump if they don't get exactly what they want.

The Cyclones are already in Coney Island. I could see them along the Hudson or in Long Island.

The stadium will always be doomed because of its piss poor location. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it isn't accessible by Centro. The politicians who didn't put it Downtown to begin with really screwed the pooch here. With Downtown seeing the revitalization it currently is, that would have been a nice attraction for the area.

To build a stadium downtown, the first thing they have to do is tear down the overhead train bridges that separate downtown from the near West Side. That's the corner where the stadium was proposed - where Clinton and Onondaga Streets meet, around there.

Appreciate this tidbit. Didn't know the exact location.

Although the Amphitheater is there, could that also be a location for a new stadium? I'm not familiar with the availability of land and size of the Inner Harbor.
