Expect Mud Mill and Caughdenoy Roads to become major players for future development of commercial, retail, and residential neighborhoods.

Easy access to 81 and 31, lots of available land, water nearby.

Big potential there.

They need to extend the road that runs in front of Clinton's Ditch, Paul DeLima further north to Mud Mill with an interchange. It might be worthwhile to make a parallel road on the western side.

Couple thoughts.

Does this encourage Lockheed to continue to focus on their Syracuse campus and commit greater investment here?

With Micron coming in, Utica-Rome will benefit in the fact that Wolfspeed will have to improve their wages. While they pay well for the area, they are low wages comparative to the industry. Moving or commuting an hour away won't be difficult for those currently employed there, if Micron is going to pay more.

Can the powers that be land another whale for the south side of Syracuse, or something just east in Madison county?

Will SU invest greater in an engineering and computer science program / school?

The Syracuse and Utica-Rome area is becoming more intertwined. I wonder if this will actually ever become a bigger consolidated metro area?

The Syracuse and Utica-Rome area is becoming more intertwined. I wonder if this will actually ever become a bigger consolidated metro area?

HP Hood in Oneida is locked in by the neighborhoods, and if they continue to grow there, will need to expand in other areas. They have some offshoot spaces in Vernon, but there is not much else in VVS area with the loss of the China / Cutlery business, outside the casino - which itself is supposedly growing again (see it when it happens to believe it).

Also, can you consider Chittenango a suburb of Syracuse? I wish the thruway had an exit at Chitt.

Canastota is kind of a dying town.

New Hartford is working on developing a bunch of land off Middle Settlement.

Utica is finishing up the downtown hospital, which will most likely spur a lot of development and improvements. They are also almost done with the additional project at the Adirondack Bank Arena.

Out in Caz they have Marquardt. That's another area that would benefit from a big investment south of Syracuse.

Rome has seen a mass exodus over the years. Can the new investment in drones and other government projects revitalize and stem the city? To be frank, outside a select part of the city, it's turned pretty dumpy and is a blight. Rome needs a lot of help.

There is already an exit off 481 onto Caughdenoy Rd. There are some newer developments though heading north between that exit and Rte 31.

How about development to the north linking Syracuse and Oswego, a port on the Great Lakes. I saw a documentary once that said that the Erie Canal wasn't connected to Oswego because the politicians of the time were mad that Canada remained loyal to the Crown and felt that making Oswego a major port would help Canada, so they built it parallel to Lake Ontario and west to Buffalo and our Midwest benefited instead.

I know the physical facility will happen and that is great, but I wonder about the employment projection. 50k? I know there will be a lot of jobs created to support Micron, but I wonder if that might be honeymoon talk rather than reality.

They did just open this year. That said the Utica facility is only 1/5th of the size of one fab that will be built in Clay.

Micron's decision represents something of a rare loss for the Austin metro area in recent years. At this point, I can respect any Republican who cares about the Constitution and will abide by it and put that above party or cult leader. Working across party lines would be a bonus.
