Dickie V is coming Saturday...

Yes, Duke Vitale has aggravated people in the past with his aggressive ACC hype but he loves college basketball and its players and he has spread out his love more evenly over time. He has been very pro Syracuse and has often said Jim Boeheim needs to get his 101 wins back. Now with his valiant fight against cancer and his openness about it, I think there are very few people who are not on the Dickie V train.

Could very well be his last game in the Dome. Love Dicky V and despite some things that may annoy people with his schtick, you won't find a better ambassador of the game than him. Can't wait to hear his call of a Cuse game for maybe the final time.

I respect him as a person, his commitment to the game, and his energy. But as an announcer, it's like nails on a chalkboard. I can't do it. Fortunately, I won't have to listen to him.

He gives the veneer of a “big time game” but he’s been a caricature of himself for a long time. He just kind of yells and shouts catch phrases all game.

That being said, college basketball will be that much less enjoyable without him.

Dick has been through some serious health issues and I am extremely happy seeing him doing more games this year. He is a good man and has helped raise millions for cancer research. Dickie V is on my Mt Rushmore of color commentators for college basketball.

I never liked his shtick, but I've always respected what he's meant/done to/for college basketball. And for being 83 years old and a recent cancer survivor, the amount of energy and enthusiasm he has is nothing short of incredible. I think he's still very sharp (mentally) too.

Wont see me complaining about this from Dickie V when the younger, newer announcers are doing the same thing too. If I have to listen to Corey Alexander another game in my life I may actually combust
