DL Steve Linton transferring from Texas Tech to Baylor

Very peculiar he was able to put so much weight on at Tech but couldn’t seem to do that here

Either they blasted him with Roids or our strength and conditioning program is severely lacking

One weird note in the tweet it actually in the tweet it said-

"Linton played in low-230’s last fall and he showed excellent natural leverage and lockout (82 wing) to consistently play bigger and heavier than his measurables, which bodes well for him playing more over TEs."

Assuming that's just poor research on their part...

i know for a fact numbers on the roster aren’t entirely accurate. I’m sure Steve was in the low 230’s

That would make sense... but also puts their hype machine at question too.

Steve Linton could project out to Iowa State and Jets 1st Round Pick Will McDonald, in my opinion. Similar build/athleticism, and playing in a pass happy Big 12 will help.

But considering he would be playing in the 3-4 as a rush DE instead of in our scheme that could be a really nice fit for him. That scheme probably fits his game and measurables better than our 3-3-5 does.

Certainly could and good for him to have all this hype up behind him. We were on Tucker for Heisman consideration or best RB in football for a while too... which again wasn't unreasonable until it was. Steve should do well there in that system for sure.

I could be wrong but I think he was recruited here as a LB (as with Lowery) but it didn't pan out because of the LB's we had so they stuck him at rush end. He was definitely not good enough against power run teams imo to be every down player here and he's still a light DE at 236. Will definitely flourish in a pass happy league.

has to stay healthy and perform the other duties of a LB other than hit the QB

Exactly. Its much more than weight. Linton was tried at LB in the 3-3 and it wasnt working out. The LB's are required to do a variety of things in that scheme. He is better for a 3-4 where he can just pass rush, set the edge vs run or drop flats on pass.

We have Jawhar Jordan losing his mind vs ND, and now this. What a great week of football this has been.
