Do you believe any of the Seniors will come back next year?

Will any Senior return to SU for a 5th season?

I'm not sure Sidibe would play a lot next year given his knee trouble sadly. Might be smarter to take his degree and try to earn money playing overseas before he gets older.

Even if Sidibe does decide to return, they better not be counting on him in any fashion. Can hope to be surprised but relying on him to contribute is an excellent way to spend another year in irrelevancy.

Which might be why he has to.come back to prove his knees are healthy. Not sure many overseas teams are willing to pay with his injury history.

I'm not expecting Sidibe, Guerrier, Marek or Griffin to be back.
I agree. Griffin isn’t likely to improve his stock with another year in college. I think he leaves.

Quincy will be 22 in May. As a 23 yr old 6’7 pf he’s not likely to get drafted in the first round in ‘22 either. Might as well make the jump now and train in a pro setting. He has a chance.

Excellent post, but in reference to the above, why do you believe that will be?
In an ordinary year, the only players who can be grad transfers are players who graduate during this school year (and still have a year or more of eligibility remaining).

This coming year, we will still have those players. But there are also all the seniors who are exhausting their last season of eligibility this season. Because this is a ‘free’ season, all these players have the option of returning next season, or transferring somewhere else, where they can play immediately.

I don’t know how many are going to come back, but I bet the number is significant. And this is the worse case scenario, where the NCAA decides it is going to pull back on the plan to make all transfers eligible immediately. That might still happen.

Who are you thinking?
Heres my guess at odds of leaving. Marek, Bourama at 90%. Q, Griffin at 75%. JBA, Edwards at 50%. Ideal scenario to me is get 1 of the wings back, 1 of the young bigs and bring in a quality 5 via transfer.

I can see all this, except maybe the center. Not sure anyone would want to come in with our guard oriented offense, I think that’s what our problem has been in getting one, more so with Buddy and Joe getting 60 minutes a game.

We are going need bodies somehow with definitely a few exits and only 1 coming in. No shot of a guard signing up to be mothballed. A decent 5 walks into mins

Hopefully they both play another year, but I suspect it’s more likely we barely have enough guys to fill out a viable starting lineup and JB ends up playing the 1-4 for 38+ minutes/game.

With all love to them I don’t want them to come back. Force JB to actually use his other centers and forwards instead of MD 40 minutes a game and keep BS from losing what’s left of his knees

Boeheim says stuff.

Remember how Woody played at the beginning of the year? You want to relegate that to the bench because of artificial concerns about his ability to defend?

Benny is one of the highest rated recruits we've had in a long time. He's the best wing prospect we've gotten, probably since Carmelo [apologies to Wes, who was a transfer]. Why would we waste that by forcing him to play out of position?

Woody is a stretch 4. Benny is a terrific 3 prospect. Play them together.

The last thing I want to see next year is another slow footed, undersized team featuring two small guys at the forward in Buddy and Benny, getting beaten up inside.

You have to play your best players, and out of the six mentioned, Joe doesn't make the cut. Now, he can still play 20+ and have games he plays even more, but the goal is to improve, not tread water.

Can you think of a guy who started every game for SU one year and then became a roll bench player the next ? I’m not sure I can

I've assumed Marek and Sidibe are gone for the reasons stated above.

I've assumed Q is gone as well.

I have to imagine AG is at least considering it.

Can't imagine Woody AND Bras come back. At least one will be gone.

I have a hard time seeing the 2 starting forwards leaving AND the two backup, as well.

Although we lost 3 guards to transfer alone last year, so who knows what kids are thinking these days?

If that were to happen, that would probably be the end of me watching SU hoops until we have a new coach.

He's not playing pro anywhere. He hasn't been healthy for the last 3 years.

And if Woody is also in that mix, the offseason will be a disaster.
If all four of those guys left, Woody would be the starting power forward alongside Benny. That said, I don’t think Quincy or Griff will leave until after next season.

I am with rf on this. I would love to see Woody and Benny at the forwards with Buddy and Kadray starting in the back court. One of the centers, probably Frank, at the 5. I would really, really, love to see it be Q and Benny with Buddy and Kadray with a good grad center at the 5. That would make me very happy. That is a good ACC level team.
Kadary will start next season.

So he wouldn’t play here because of his bad knees? But he could somehow get a job playing professionally overseas? Huh? That’s illogical.

Allen Griffin.

Yup. Michael Edwards went from sophomore starter to junior off the bench too. But he never came back and started again as a senior - instead he played even less.

I don’t think they’ll do away with the one-year sit-out.

Man, this thread is depressing, but appreciate the realism

Sounds like this lineup could be possible
Kadary, JG, Buddy, Benny, Jesse (gets pulled early for Frank)

Unlikely dream would be to keep one of the QG/AG
Better dream would be to keep Bras or Woody in the forward rotation

I do think JG could lose the starting job to Kadary if we keep enough forwards. An entire offseason would give him the evidence in practice
