Do you believe any of the Seniors will come back next year?

Will any Senior return to SU for a 5th season?

Boeheim says stuff.

Remember how Woody played at the beginning of the year? You want to relegate that to the bench because of artificial concerns about his ability to defend?

Benny is one of the highest rated recruits we've had in a long time. He's the best wing prospect we've gotten, probably since Carmelo [apologies to Wes, who was a transfer]. Why would we waste that by forcing him to play out of position?

Woody is a stretch 4. Benny is a terrific 3 prospect. Play them together.

The last thing I want to see next year is another slow footed, undersized team featuring two small guys at the forward in Buddy and Benny, getting beaten up inside.

You have to play your best players, and out of the six mentioned, Joe doesn't make the cut. Now, he can still play 20+ and have games he plays even more, but the goal is to improve, not tread water.
Well...

I've assumed Marek and Sidibe are gone for the reasons stated above.

I've assumed Q is gone as well.

I have to imagine AG is at least considering it.

Can't imagine Woody AND Bras come back. At least one will be gone.

Tend to agree. With this being a "free" year of eligibility, Robert probably will want to take his talents to somewhere with more bountiful PT, where he can start for two years.

But if all of those guys leave that you mention, maybe Braswell returns [if he likes it at SU] -- knowing that he's now the third guy in what JB usually fields as a 3-player rotation at forward. And as an experienced player, PT would be there.

But that said, I agree with your premise. Hope it isn't Woody.

Woody was seeing lots of time until he had his issues.. Bras has leg issues too and they school has done a ton to try and help him along maybe he appreciates that and he isnt going to a P5 and getting suddenly starter minutes any place. Maybe Sidibe wants one last shot.. any where else is counts as a scholie and here he doesnt so who takes that risk ? Marek might have had enough, he is at his ceiling and who knows where he wants to end up.

Definitely see both leaving. The question becomes where would Quincy and Alan go if they were to leave? QG is not getting an NBA look yet. He is a tweener in college as it is and thus without showing off a handle yet he doesn't have a lot to offer as the next level. Griffin isn't getting a look from the NBA either so if both leave it's transfer or G League/Europe.
I think you've underassessed Q's NBA potential (and also aren't factoring in his age), and in the case of Griffin, I don't think any logical argument about why he should stay matters. No info, just my guess.

I think there is a chance that our starting lineup next year on day one is Kadary, Joe, Buddy, Benny and TBD Center.

The non-Bras/Woody transfer is the third forward with Buddy sliding back up to make the three guard rotation.

Then we're still stuck with our center position looking iffy.

I hate to say it, but this is a realistic possibility.

Yeah I mean I still liken his game to a Paul Millsap but I struggle to see where a scout would see him being more than an UFA headed to the GLeague. I think he absolutely is going to play at the next level just think he needs one more year to really get on more folks radar.

I really hope this isn’t the case.
Starting Buddy on the wing of the zone? Unless the center and other forward are monster rebounders that isn’t smart to start.

I expect JB will spin his Dion Waiters didn’t start argument to Matt Park and others to continue Kadary on the bench to start.

No way Kadary is ok with sitting next year after doing a post HS prep year. He's got to be one of the oldest freshman in the country. No way is he staying after next year.

If JB is willing to start JGIII and Buddy at the top of the zone this year, I'm not sure why he'd have an issue with Buddy on the wing. He's already proven he'll roll with bad defenders as a major part of the lineup this year.

Forget about rebounding with that lineup.

Definitely a realistic possibility -- one I hope we avoid.

Honestly, we're talking about replacing Joe in the starting lineup with Woody. Should be a no-brainer, even for a stubborn coach.

I am with rf on this. I would love to see Woody and Benny at the forwards with Buddy and Kadray starting in the back court. One of the centers, probably Frank, at the 5. I would really, really, love to see it be Q and Benny with Buddy and Kadray with a good grad center at the 5. That would make me very happy. That is a good ACC level team.

Yeah if Marek gets his degree i think he is gone. Whomever said he can play in Europe that is right.

I don't know if either player will come back.

I know Bourama is a very smart young man and it might be enticing for him to have another year to pursue a graduate degree. In addition, he probably would like a do over of his senior year. This is surely not how he dreamed his career would end. He worked very hard to transform his body and had 5 minutes to take advantage of that hard work. Returning for a solid senior season would position him much better to land a nice contract to play somewhere overseas, which might be an immediate goal of his.

If Marek comes back, that would be 4 years in a row he defied many on this board and proved them wrong again. Causing a grand slam of bad calls by many in the fan base might be enough to get him to come back. I joke but he made some nice improvements to his body last summer and another summer of building his body up will only help him to get a better contract to play overseas as well. And it would not be a bad thing to start work on a grad program in some area for him either. He appears to be enjoying his time at Syracuse and JB always is very encouraging to him in his public (and presumably private) statements.

In the event one or both of these guys leave, it looks likely there will be no incoming HS recruit big guy to take their place. Our returning bigs do not look like they are locks to be solid ACC level players next season so I expect we will go hard after big guy transfers (like we have been doing the last couple of years). There will probably be more of them than there normally are and if we lose both of these guys, the abundant available playing time has to be attractive to someone looking to transfer.

If both leave, I would be very surprised if we do not get at least one transfer. Probably a grad transfer, maybe a JUCO eligible immediately. Or even a 'normal' transfer the NCAA makes immediately eligible. Can't imagine they aren't going to make all transfers eligible immediately at some point between now and the summer.

No offense to Sid, but I want Frank to take over at the 5. He’s by far the most athletic and haa the most upside.

Counterpoint: he has the poorest feel for the game of all of the 5's on the current roster.

Need to hope for an Etan-esque leap in his second year.

Believe Taurean Thompson will have 1 more year of eligibility left. Somewhat familiar with the zone. Or maybe it's finally Dimon Carrigan time!

I believe that Moustapha Diagne still has some eligibility left. He was going to be the savior in 2015 ...
Yeah, because ratings are always accurate. Ask Francis about Diagne...or just read the thread on the recruiting board...or watch some youtubes. Or just be pleasantly surprised next year. He's not a finished product but he's a lot further along than "raw." He's a lot more polished than McCullough, for example.
I mean, so polished he managed 21% shooting on a career 43 FGA in 232 minutes at two programs.

If Marek, QG, AG, and Woody all were to leave, Jimmy Jr might be a legitimate option as an experienced forward.

Marek can play in some Euro league for pay so it makes no sense for him to return. He'll never be an NBA player. If Sidibe returns it means JB has no use for the other centers. Sid isn't the answer and we need to move on. To a transfer maybe.
Hopefully Q and AG return. Q is a consistent perimeter shot away from maybe being an NBA selection. He isn't there now. I think they come back for another year.
