Different system completely. There was flow to the play calling today. Also screen set up so the receiver was moving forward on the catch. The misdirection was there too with one play setting up another. And Lester actually said he prefers a more simple well executed offense. Right now with aj you would be comparing apples to oranges. How much different did wilson and long look today? And how much different did Wilson and hunt look v Lville? Some of our struggles are on coaching and others are on players making plays. To me, the offensive struggles were much more about coaching.Biggest take away was that the offense looked smooth and confident. Players looked in position and never seemed to be in a bad play vs their d (outside of a few inside runs - but I think our Oline just got beat on those plays - not scheme).
Basically I think Lester is about 10x the OC McDonald is. Everyone looked better (outside of drops).
Nonsense.I can see Hunt moving to defense. Perhaps safety
why?Nonsense.
Totally agree. And my question about McD was not a meant to bash Terrel. At all. Just making the point that AJ and Austin seem to be able to throw a pass (integral to McD's offense) that Hunt has had trouble with. What with playing football and graduating early, what Hunt has done here is highly commendable. Not many kids can do what he has done.
Way too slow for one thing.Nonsense.
Perhaps, but he has not improved his passing game and cannot take us anywhere becasue of that. Hunt would be great playing for Navy or GT. AJ's ceiling looks pretty high compared to Hunt and I say that based on what the coaches and players have been saying as much as the FSU game. He actually made a bundle of mistakes and lousy passes but after he settled down he showed his stuff. He is accurate - not great arm strength but accurate. Looks like very high ceiling indeed.Happy with AJ this game, but people are writing off Terrell way too fast. People forget how good he was at the end of the season last year.
Just throwing it out there - if McD had Wilson and/or Long throwing those bubble screens, would he still be OC today?
Hunt threw many to the H-Back, RB and WR but he was very inaccurate and those are timing plays that fail if the receiver has to stop, jump, turn or squat to catch the pass. Yesterday they were all hit in stride.Easy answer. It all depends on who McD would have him throw the screen to. If he's throwing the screen to a TE then no. If he is throwing it to a RB/WR like yesterday then probably.
Depends on how AJ and Austin do while Hunt is out. If they play well, there is no way he will bring back Hunt to start. Zero chance.I think HCSS is a loyalty guy( and I think he was too loyal to McScreeny) I can almost guarantee he says the old "no player will lose his spot due to injury" I think he has Hunt as starter when he comes back but look for Long to get some decent playing time and if he out plays Hunt then he pulls the trigger.,
I love what I saw from AJ, but he looks tiny out there. Hope Hunt doesn't get the job back the same way AJ got it.

The O looked quyicker because Lester was getting the ball to players who were moving pre-snap. Those end-arounds to the RBs, Gulley on the swing passes, made the players look faster and hide some deficiencies. Loved that. Can be used with either QB, but I was made confident with Long's performance going forward. There's a reason he wasn't starting, though.
