Does Hunt take another snap at QB?

I can see Hunt moving to defense. Perhaps safety
I don't think Hunt would move to defense. If he agreed to switch positions it would have to be with an idea to play at the next level he could be sold on that. TE or NFL H-back I think Hunt could accept. He isn't a speedster but could catch passes against a LB in coverage and with his QB background could be good for a trick play every once in a while. Moving him for 1 year has to be for the kids benefit of he would likely just transfer to an FBS school and play 1 yr QB there.

Hunt is never going to be an NFL QB. The question is whether he would want to stay at the D-1 level.

I agree with that but my point was if he would stay at SU and change positions it would be sold to him with the idea of switch here and show the pro scouts your talent to play in the NFL instead of saying I know I am not pro QB but since I know this is my last year of football I want to play QB and I will just transfer to an FBS school and play my last year of FB there at QB.

These athletes need for the most part need their egos feed. So telling Hunt move to TE could work cause realistically that is the only position he could play in the NFL not on defense.

Hunt is never going to the NFL at any position, that's not being negative that's being a realist. If the kid wants to play QB he should transfer and play QB one more year. Moving to TE isn't some easy switch which someone can do overnight...ask Tebow! Even if he worked at it an entire offseason he wouldn't be a D1 level TE come next fall

FSU was one game. It was a game in which the other team had 0 film. The other team had never seen our OC, our offense, and had to plan for 2 qb's they have never seen. I am very impressed with AJ and did not think he would be as successful as he was. I think we do not anoint AJ the next McNabb until we have seen a few games under his belt. Let's not forget that Wilson was pretty effective until he got hurt and many on this board where calling for him to be the starter last two weeks.

We have also not seen Hunt in this offense. If AJ continues to improve, I can see them shutting Hunt down for the season and letting him heal. It is going to be an interesting off season with AE coming and supposedly being pretty good.
I agree with the part about Hunt not showcasing with Lester BUT even the most simplistic throws have shown the difference between Long/Wilson and Hunt. Both those guys threw a fantastic deep ball and got the screen passes out quickly and accurately which is why we saw 5-8 yard gains on them instead of -5 to 2 yard gains. Not to mention intermediate throws that were on target and not within some random 10 yard radius of the WR.

Is it crazy to think of moving both Hunt AND Broyld to LB? I think Ashton would make a helleva LB, maybe make some dough in the NFL. ..

Broyld to LB? The guy who hates contact I think that's the worst spot on the field for him-

I don't know if that is true unless he actually commits to learning the position. I'm not like some people on here that just look at size and 40 speed and then equate that to position and success on the field. However, in this case, he knows the playbook from being a QB. He has to have some idea how to play the position coming from the QB position. He has the size, he has ok speed but he makes defenders miss in the open field without elusive or blazing speed. IF, he can catch the ball consistently and block, it's not that far fetched that he could be a serviceable TE at SU. Not like we are a top 10 team. Look at the guy for Fla St., looked slow as hell but had amazing hip flexibility and made plays all game.

Agreed. With Long/Wilson and hopefully Edouard coming in, Hunt's QB days are over. He has a prototype body for Tight End and if he and the staff committed to developing him into that over the off season, I think he could excel at that position.

Happy with AJ this game, but people are writing off Terrell way too fast. People forget how good he was at the end of the season last year.
You and I remember last year differently -Hunt was good by comparison to just how awful he was in that prior stretch post Tulane which were some pretty G*D awful games. If Allen wasn't such a turnover machine I wonder if Hunt ever sees the field...

Hunt threw many to the H-Back, RB and WR but he was very inaccurate and those are timing plays that fail if the receiver has to stop, jump, turn or squat to catch the pass. Yesterday they were all hit in stride.

Bingo Crusty I will take the accuracy that we saw yesterday over arm strength ala Drew Allen every time. Now for some improved decision making on those int's...

What do you mean "this offense"? This is the same offense reduced by half for the freshman qb's- just a different play caller.

I just love that all of you are now echoing my 'Hunt is a S or TE'.

Funny thing is, it wasn't his play that got you saying it, it was the play of his backups.

Again people please...leave the talent evaluating to the proven talent evaluators.

And when we speak...LISTEN to us and save us the time of useless, meaningless debate threads.

Matt Grothe from S Forida shredded us for years and he was only 6' and 205 lbs. AJ actually is better, faster and has a better skillset. He just needs to put on about 15-20 lbs.

I thought his arm strength was really good, don't know what people were talking about that he has a weak arm. He was throwing darts out there. Great placement on his downfield throws.
Sure, he can throw it downfield far enough, but if you look at the replay, when he was running to his left, his arm strength is exposed. He has an average arm which is OK, because he can be accurate. We can work with accurate, especially when he can run, but nobody can work with inaccurate.

I think HCSS is a loyalty guy( and I think he was too loyal to McScreeny) I can almost guarantee he says the old "no player will lose his spot due to injury" I think he has Hunt as starter when he comes back but look for Long to get some decent playing time and if he out plays Hunt then he pulls the trigger.,
If he does that he will lose me.

Never scoffed at position change outright. Scoffed that he would be a safety, ever. Too slow.

I stand by my evaluation.

Wilson has a cannon for an arm and made the same throw for an interception running to his left. Arm strength has nothing to do with it.

Most young players can't make that throw, that is due to not making that throw at D1 game speed...ever. With more experience, they will be able to make that throw.

It may be premature for sure but if the coaching staff isn't all-in for Hunt at QB next year then discussing moving him to a H-Back/TE isn't a dumb discussion especially when the alternative is him transferring to an FBS school to play his last year at QB there.

Your likely right he isn't an NFL player. However he has no chance to be an NFL QB he has a longshot chance at another position. Tebow would likely be in the NFL now if he agreed to switch positions to H-Back like many wanted him to do. Instead Tebow said he is a QB and is out of the league.

So I guess all the Long fans are willing to ignore his terrible INT after the fumbled PR? This board would be killing Hunt for making the same play, so let's see a little bit more from Long before we declare Hunt's days over. I think Long should get the chance while Hunt is out, and he showed some good things, but let's all slowly step back.

Hunt had 15 starts, Long 3 quarters of split duty in a game we were not winning. Forgiven for now.

I'd like to see a lot more from Long before he gets anointed, but I personally don't see much more upside to Hunt than what he has already shown. Hunt still struggles with accuracy even on short throws four years in and Long/Wilson appear to not have that problem in their rookie seasons. Not being able to pass accurately has hamstrung our offense and just got our coordinator demoted- and Long/Wilson both appear to be more advanced/accurate right out of the gate. I think we can work with these guys...

Tebow did switch to TE when he went to the Pats. It was an utter disaster

Can't see the difference between a freshman playing in his 1st game ever vs the defending national champions and the current #1 team in the county. Vs an experienced QB who has played in bowl games and had numerous starts. You really can't see the difference? WOW!

Hunt regressed from last year to this. Not a good sign of someone with a bright future you waste time building around
