Dream Hire...

Right there with you. Worst part is I had expectations. We had more then enough talent returning where it should have been a gimme to get to 6 wins. Even before injuries became everyone's excuse, you could tell right from the opening quarter that this wasn't a good team offensively. But it's not even limited to offense. Defense played a part in 2 of them losses, as did special teams. There are definitely some reason for concern.

For as "bad" as the defense has looked at times this year, they have been very good and certainly kept us in most of the games. If our offense could compensate them for their work, our record would be flip-flopped right now IMO.

I saw much more than that. Villanova put on a clinic that day on how to tackle while our guys went for the big hit and usually gave up extra yardage. I saw no confusion when Villanova had the ball. SU-not so much. If I rewatched the game I could go on.
our defense only gave up 10 pts in regulation vs nova

Chad Morris would be my choice...Look at other offensive minded coaches from high school ranks...i.e. Briles from Baylor & Gus Malzahn from Auburn
If we're going that route let's really be innovative and get Kevin Kelly.

Hypothetically speaking. Because Coach Shafer is a good man who deserves time.

For me, Jeff Stoutland - OL coach for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Why. He has strong SU Football experience. He was a recruiting coordinator - considered a very good coordinator. He was Saban's associate HC at Alabama. He is an OL coach. He has NFL experience and Chip Kelly experience. And, I think OL coaches make good head coaches.
unless your name is tom cable or mike tice...

What about Casullo's son? He seems to be a pretty well known commodity in Florida High school fball.

legit question--why would he leave associate head coach at alabama to end up as a ol coach for phila. eagles????i agree that ol line and d line coaches make good hc's

I don't know.

Maybe more money.

Maybe a chance to work with Kelly.

Maybe a way to get his name out and get him a HC interview.

I like him. He loves SU. He would be a very good fit in my opinion.

Not sure how Bob feels about Cuse after Marrone fired him on the spot

Well he does a Cuse football weekly show on TV with Damien Rhodes and Niko so im assuming he isnt THAT pissed off. He does weekly radio spots with local espn talking football as well.

Keep Scott Shaffer bring in current Alabama O Line coach Mario Cristobal as a ast coach/o cord. as he has many ties to the fla and southern states in recruiting

Tice might have had a good season but Tom Cable? You can possibly just blame that on the Raiders

I actually recall thinking that Cable did a good job but was hamstrung by typical Raiders issues - as have been a number of solid Oakland HCs.

That's not ever going to happen.

Because I knew you wouldn't want me to say Kevin Rogers.

Has SU Football experience.

Is young - could be a long term HC.

Is an imaginative offensive mind - coached at the college level for Spurrier at Florida.

Comes from a great football pedigree.

Has NFL significant coaching experience.

I like the idea a lot.

I'm going to assume you didn't mean to quote the Kevin Rogers post right?

I didn't verify everything but he's 63 years old.

I love Kevin Rogers.

I have no idea whether he'd make a good head coach, but I'm a huge fan.

Correct.

I was referring to Brian Schottenheimer.

Gotcha. Makes more sense.

Although, I disagree on the long term part. If Marrone couldn't be long term, I'm not sure anyone could. It just seems like at this point if anyone can show success at SU, they'll want to use that for a better job.

I disagree. There is always that Boeheim type lurking. We happened to find one for hoops. Doug Marrone was just disingenuous about his real long term plans.

We need to figure out who from the family can coach and wants to live in CNY for the rest of their life coaching this team. I think it's a wonderful opportunity b/c the expectations are 7-8 wins and u are revered now. If Pasqualoni could have figured out a way to beat Temple in 2004, probably sticks around for another 5 years b/c we go to the Fiesta Bowl in 04!
