Duke Gameday...

Gary mentioned the team's discipline in the fourth quarter standing out and it absolutely did.

Cuse has only one penalty in the second half (an offsides) and zero penalties in the fourth. Amazing! When was the last time that happened? It feels like forever.

Kudos for the players on keeping level heads in such a tight and tense game.

Crazy what's possible when you're not living in the penalty box down the stretch.

Sounds like it was an ugly win and the defense n McCool struggled a bit. But man the offense is putting in work.
And with Hahn and mcintee threats to score when they touch the ball. Plus seeing Bear with the kind of game he had is nice.
Just gotta clear up sloppy play and some defensive issues.
I know it’s beating a dead horse over and over, but man, this team has some insane talent.
Gonna have to find the extended highlights.

Watched some DI college men's ice hockey playoffs last night. Two Plante boys on University of Minnesota-Duluth. That name sounds familiar...Oh, right. Derek Plante, a former Sabre, a former UM-D Bulldog.

And then we have a Colsey at Duke and a Colsey at UVA. Ouch. I know Roy did some amazing things on the field for Cuse, but I'm sure that this doesn't sit so well with Syracuse fans and lacrosse alums. Especially because they're both at ACC rival teams.
I can't speak for all but ill speak for myself as an alum. It definitely stings that the previous staff decided that Ryan Colsey wasn't worth a full recruiting effort, not just because his father was one of the 15 best players in program history, but also because there were two more stud sons and Roy is a very influential voice. And I know others have mentioned that it is no slamdunk that Kyle or Christopher would have ended up at SU, there was no chance after Ryan's non recruitment.

Some odd stories about Cuse's recruiting efforts. Mike Powell said they didn't really recruit him and was going to go to Fairfield but Ryan stepped in the last minute to get him to commit.

Mike was going to Fairfield because they had beach parties and then Casey set him straight it was almost 30 years ago things were a wee bit different. It would have been a lot more on Gait and March recruiting Colsey than Desko. Granted Desko and Roy weren’t exactly close.

Don’t listen to people on this board when you hear “ ugly” win. This board is over 50% negative during and after every game. There was nothing ugly about it. That was an undefeated Duke team we beat yesterday. I guess if you don’t shut them out, it’s an ugly win.

From what I know Ryan was recruited but SU had Joey and Leo higher on their board and made those 2 their priority. In retrospect it would have been great to get all 3 but that probably wasnt realistic. It does seem that most of the bad feelings were smoothed over by the time of the recruitment of the youngest Colsey, with him having SU in it down to the wire but as you noted there's zero guarantees as a few years ago all 3 were supposedly a lock for UVA and you see how that has turned out.

Also didn’t see ryan starting over hiltz i’m sry. Maby this year yea would would have. But possible he didn’t wanna run out of the box till hiltz left anyway. Would been nice of course to get one. But don’t think it’s cost us.

Judging purely how the Dad coached in FCIAC, he could be pushing for different schools to ensure one of the three gets a ring. Spread ‘em out, increase the odds.

As weird as that sounds, I’d wager a little on Kalshi for that to be the case. 😎

Desko and March barely recruited Ryan. Gary reached out on Kyle but that wasn't happening. As for Christopher, UNC just had too much to offer this past summer. They are taking full advantage of the new house rules and SU focused on the goalie (as they should have done). And I will disagree that its unrealistic to get three brothers to go to the same school.

lmao danowski blaming the refs that they "make mistakes". felt he was pushed, not in a million years. he must not have seen the replay before he threw that out.

always a good day when dook loses. can't believe they escaped last nite, again.
Yeah his player looked like a new born dear, doing lunges into Dwan lol. It was the most obvious Moving pick.

We will have to agree to disagree on the last point. Judging from whats come out of UVA and the alleged issues with Colsey Sr I suspect something similar was likely to happen here. Again 2 years ago all 3 Colseys were UVA locks, now there's 1 and if you believe the rumblings in a few months there will be zero

i don’t think umasky has played lately. As def last few games didn’t see him taking any at the X. Not that he would beat wambach but mullen n angelo gonna have to make it least a battle. Can’t have wambach win cleanly n push it.

Bring it. Massey has the game as dead even for a reason, this Cuse team is on par and ready for whatever challenge that comes their way after a gauntlet of a schedule. UNC is quick on offense but not big, have to push them around and use physicality.
I like our chances unless we have too many self-inflicted wounds - bad penalties, forcing plays, bad shot selection, etc. I think this will indeed be a very physical game.
