that was a systematic dismantling. Duke knew exactly what they wanted to do and executed.
But sure, next season.
But sure, next season.

Stay tuned. More to come.16th blowout loss for Red in his first 2 seasons.
any lip readers out there make out what the dude in the cap is barking into his date's ear ?
I know a bunch who got to sit thru a little over a half of it because traffic was insane. All those people got to sit through that embarrassment.
Scheyer is really good. That was as enjoyable a team to watch as I have seen in years. They defend tremendously. They recognize situations and execute out of those situations at an extremely efficient level. They are athletic and skilled, and play very hard.that was a systematic dismantling. Duke knew exactly what they wanted to do and executed.

I attended my first game this year. I finally got a real chance to see what we have. That was embarrassing !!!!
Spot on. I wish I could say you are wrong, or at least that your comment is too snarky, but I think you are exactly right.Stay tuned. More to come.
He can say what he wants. Following a 29 point loss is probably not the best time to bust out the "we're on the right path" routine though. What’s he supposed to say ? “We suck and are sucking worse by the day. Fire me now.”
I felt the same way - despite the loss, I had a lot of fun - the Dome is a great BB venue - better than ever.I went to my first basketball game last night since 2022-23. Teenage kids will do that to you, but this year I haven't wanted to because of the product. But my son and his friend wanted to see Flagg, so I took the family tix and went. I was reminded why I love this program so much. The dome, fairly decent (and surprising) crowd, entertaining basketball. The team showed energy for about the first 12-15 minutes...then the push at the end of the half by Duke and you could see the players were deflated. Game over. It's sad to see. I had zero expectations of a win and honestly figured it would be around a 20 point loss. But the lack of any defensive discipline and missed wide open looks (both 3's and 2's) just show how far we have dropped. I am in the camp that we need to make a complete cultural change, but I am now starting to believe it wont happen. This school, administration has its head buried in the sand and doesn't have the stones to make a bold move...excuse me, they did with Fran and it worked...hmmmmm. I'd rather suffer a few more seasons like the last few years with a coach that actually teaches D and offensive flow. WHile the talent gap was huge last night, there is no reason why our team couldn't apply the same defensive principles and effort that Duke gave. Get the right coach in here and these boosters will come crawling back.
In other news, Syracuse played Duke apparently…. I can’t even follow this yearThat was embarrassing !!!!
Sadly, this is what happens when the bulk of your new additions are from low majors. Who couldn't have seen that the Colonial Conference all-stars couldn't compete with the top of the ACC?I attended my first game this year. I finally got a real chance to see what we have.
I was pretty dumbfounded.
From a pure physical standpoint, we we just don't have major college basketball talent.
We do not have players who can physically compete at this level.
And the way the game is coached nowadays - no off-ball screens - no motion - an over-reliance on three point shooting - little full court pressure - our talent level cannot beat teams with high quality talent.
We are a long way from Billy Owens, Derrick Coleman, and the rest.
Scheyer is a really good coach.
That's an important point that gets little attention because of Duke's tremendous talent.
You can have great talent...but they still need to play together.
Duke plays as one unit...five tentacles of the same octopus (the other 3 are on the bench).
And they do it on both ends of the court.
That's coaching.

I don't have an issue targeting lower schools to fill out the bench as role players. But if you're looking for starters at that level, you better make sure you have yourself a Dalton Knecht type of talent.Sadly, this is what happens when the bulk of your new additions are from low majors. Who couldn't have seen that the Colonial Conference all-stars couldn't compete with the top of the ACC?
Maybe our new GM will target MID majors and we'll be marginally better. Like losing by 19 instead of 29.
duke GM was overheard asking our GM after the game ...Thank you, Naheem !!!!
let's talk about Eddies minutes. the dude who has avg'ed 35 mpg over the last 4 games played just 18. only 3 fouls. was he hurt or just getting embarrassed by maliq brown ?
He does seem to do that with guys - Cuffe had a good game and now he's a regular rotation guy who is awful just as much as he is good. Naheem has had two good games in a row so now we will treat him like Olajuwon. Nobody is consistently good. Everyone should get a shot to see if they have "it" every game.Combination of things.
I think Red literally forgot Naheem was on the team, played him, saw decent results, and did what he always does...plays him nonstop the rest of the game from that moment.
Same thing he did with Cuffe after first deciding he could play him on this super talented roster.
Westry gotta be next! Just 8 or 9 more games and we'll find out he's been fine all year... but Red forgot he was on the team.
dis thing dat thing the other thang.Building "this thing"?
