Duke Post Game

Red in his post game presser:

"I know we're heading in the right direction. We'll be fine. I think Alex (Kline) will do a great job. He's doing a great job. We're building this thing. We're building it to be strong and to get back to what we all know this thing used to be and what we want it to be."

Absurd.
Frankly sounds like a man desperate to save his job who has absolutely no idea how to fix what is wrong with the team.

Commentator kept saying that we need to be spending more money to compete - that's just the harsh reality today.

He's trying the whole "Belief without evidence" thing, eh?

I do realize that we are coached poorly. I also realize that even a great coaching staff wouldn't have kept tonight's game close.

Honest question. If the coaching staffs were reversed (Red coached Duke & Scheyer coached Cuse), do you think it would result in a clinical 30-point victory for the Dukies?

Not sure if this was posted earlier, but I'm thinking it was a questionable idea of the Syracuse basketball twitter account to post the following after we had lost by about 30.

All those people got to sit through that embarrassment.

Well, to be fair, a 'great' coaching staff (you know, the one's responsible for assembling their own team) wouldn't have ever placed themselves into such a position in the first place...so there's that.

Funny reading these comments like we haven't been blown out by Duke for years under the previous CEO. When was the last time that we beat Duke. Don't act like this is something new. The Duke transition was handled correctly. This is what happens when coaches hang on too long. This is the end result. There was a large group that supported that CEO to the Bitter End

I don’t think Syracuse is good, and they won’t be good next year. College sports kinda suck (for us) with the portal

I watched my kid get first place at his county science fair, which was a better way to spend the evening.

29 points, yikes.

I remember when Kansas beat us by 40 in Alaska & it felt like the end of the world. Now, these drummings are expected.

Hopefully next years class changes the culture.

Up to the coach to create the culture.

What’s he supposed to say ? “We suck and are sucking worse by the day. Fire me now.”

To the end? They think he should still be the coach.

I’ll hold off on my comment for fear of getting singled out again, but it’s similar to other‘s here. Apathy has reached 100%. Really bad.

No of course not. I would guess we would lose by 20 or so. Coaching is huge and we have poor Coaching.
But, you can win with great talent way more often than great Coaching. We all know this. I didn't think that Jim was a very good coach early in his career. And for a fact I can tell you that some very good and respected coaches had the same opinion of him. But he had good talent and his teams played hard. Jim became an excellent coach over time. He didn’t start out nearly as good as he finished.
So talent matters the most which is why JW can't make a move unless the boosters are on board. Without financial NIL support it won't matter who we hire. Reds getting next year. Hopefully SU gets their NIL game in order and with Kline on board doesn't blow the money on bad choices. The majority of this year's budget is in a boot, Chris, and Lampkin.
My prediction is Red has a bounce back year next season but is fired after his fourth season. Pure speculation but I believe that is the path SU basketball is on.
