E.D. Cleared to Practice Doubtful to play

It was my hunch that the commit was in danger, and yes I did relay that to people. But that doesn't change the fact that I was continually told that Robert was solid. I just chose to keep saying that "he's solid" publicly, in large part because I wanted to believe my doubts were ill informed. And good lord yes, do I wish I had just said nothing now, to save me the headache.

You're the best Jek! Don't need to defend yourself and I am sure many others here feel the same!

I was 100% in agreement until you said to save the headache. No, you should have done things differently to relay what you honestly thought. You are different now. Your site, which I love, is like a newspaper. With that comes responsibility. You become and are a trusted source. And once again, you have very little to do with this thread. Your admirer in my opinion, has gone at the OP in a way that he shouldn't have. Your posts on the subject have been spot on. Most likely, the OP just got bad information. Nothing sinister about it. I want him to post more things he hears. Not less. If he is wrong, we take that in to consideration and move along.

This is the last time I'm going to post about this because it's been discussed way too much - but in a post previously you said you privately told people that you didn't think the commitment was solid.

Yet publicly you said he was completely solid.

Then after the fact, you say you knew this was going to happen and confided in others that you didn't think it was 100% solid.

To me, that's talking out of both sides of your mouth. And also placating a source just to keep said source - I may be mistaken but I believe I remember you also saying that your source was saying that you should make sure people knew that the commitment was solid, and that unsettled fan involvement could be detrimental to the recruitment.

All and all, it does sound like a mess. But in my personal opinion, it could have been handled differently across the board.
I don't see what's so hard to understand here.

1) I was continually assured the commit was solid
2) I didn't necessarily believe that, but wanted to
3) I posted that I had been told he was still solid
4) I also confided in some people I like and trust that I wasn't quite as sure

Yes, I was worried about the negativity that could come from any wavering, but again - I was told he was solid, by - let's just get this out there for anyone who doesn't know - his dad. I chose to trust his dad and try to keep people from wringing their hands over what I hoped was nothing. I don't see what's wrong with having doubts and just not sharing them, particularly when being told by a recruit's father that they're unfounded.

Jek posts and writes great info on recruits, but he is not in their heads, ultimately not a single person can say what these kids are thinking or doing from a commit stand point until signing day, and even after that things can go wrong... So of course Jek is going to be wrong from time to time, just as is we all get it from time to time.

I am sure the OP heard something, got excited and wanted to be the first to post, I am sure there was NO ill intentions, just came out.. So perhaps all this "he said , she said" stuff should come to an end and we all just be thankful that ED didn't get his brains scrambled and will play again!

Listen dude, all I'm saying is that at some point in his chain of info someone made something up. He has not been now or ever cleared by anyone to practice yet. Dungey is the most important player we've had in a long time around here. That title is very misleading to the thousands of diehards on here who probably got really excited reading it.
Everyone just shut up and move on. The freakin egos on this board are hellacious.

Nothing wrong at all for fan. Nothing. For a fan site editor, I disagree. I want to believe what I am reading is what the writer actually believes. If it isn't, I might as well turn to wrestling.

See, I don't view myself in that way to be honest, because my site is just a passion/hobby and it's fully my opinion, not really just reporting on facts. It's just a way for me to talk about what I think about SU.

As far as the RW thing, again...I had doubts, yes, as I've said - but I was also getting told it was solid directly from a family member. I didn't think my opinion/hunch on the matter should trump what someone directly related to the recruit is saying, since obviously I assumed he had a better grasp of the situation than I did.

If only there was a way that you didn't have to read these posts..lol

Best get use to it because whether you like it or not some people do know more than others.
so that means we have to listen to the idiots arguing about sources and not believing one another?!

That's fair. I do admit that I am often aware of the fact that recruits read what I write, and frankly, I tone down some of my criticisms because of this.

Look, I don't want to argue or debate this with you. If that is your opinion, fine. For me, I have never written anything I didn't believe to be true.

One thing I do find funny, all of us debating this stuff and we haven't heard a peep from the OP. One thing to say about him, he knew when to get while the getting was good.

Is there something wrong with defending someone I speak with on a daily basis and I know to be right? (I do admire his fandom and think he's a good writer.) Grow up dude.

The main reason I'm annoyed/upset with the OP is like I said a couple times already, I think it's a troll move to drop information of that importance with zero elaboration, and then never even respond to it. Then sources and coaches quotes refute the info within minutes. Hell if he had titled the thread "Rumor: Dungey Cleared", I wouldn't have been so annoyed. He stated it as fact and people got excited. I think thats a little messed up.

I just love the grow up Dude. Very mature. It's great to defend your friend. I like Jek as well. But there is no reason to call the OP a liar. Way over the top. And he has been right in the past. Right way to do it and Jek did it. Wrong way to do it and you did it. Dude.

All of you need to go get some air.

Guess what? Come saturday we will know who is playing and who isn't.
