Euro 2020

Portugal got money into throwing this game? That last goal zero press on the ball and they just sat and watched Germany score that.
Yeah Gosens was completely unmarked at the back post. His marker (Rafa?) just stopped his run and watched the cross and header.

France/Portugal and Germany/Hungary… the last games of Group should be great. Everyone with something to play for.

No doubt. Looking forward to this Spain/Poland game too. Hoping the Poles pull it off.

Germany still in it. And in position to win the group. (Requires beating Hungary and a Portugal win or draw against France). Call me surprised. A lot of soccer to be played but looking more and more like Belgium is the team to beat. Of course in this tournament that could all change tomorrow. Or the next day.

Italy too. They don’t concede and can score, while on one hell of an unbeaten run.

But nothing at this level is a gimme.

Yeah. Italy is my team. Have been following them since just before the 1990 World Cup and was able to see them play in person at the old Giants Stadium in the 1994 World Cup. Had to sit in the Norway section during that game and some Norwegian princess “accidentally” spilled her beer on my head when Dino Baggio headed in Signori’s free kick for what turned out to be the winner with Italy playing most of the game a man down (2 down for a while when Maldini got hurt and had to come off for medical treatment). Anyway, Italy is the team I follow and as good as they are playing now there’s still room for improvement and with some key players not participating due to injuries I think they will peak next year just in time for World Cup. But who knows. Maybe this is their year.

Group A underway. I understand playing the final group matches simultaneously, but I’m going to miss hours of the Euros from morning until evening.

Yeah it's always sad when it gets to the end of group play with the simulcasts.

Great set piece. The delivery, the touch.

Italy… pure class.

Hopefully we get the France vs Italy matchup we deserve.

Also not knocking Belgium but will see if they can handle the pressure or not given it's fairly new territory.

Italy and Wales through from Group A. Switzerland with a good chance as 3rd place.

Switched over to Switzerland/Turkey and haven’t been disappointed.
I've always been pulled towards other sports because the low scoring of soccer (and other reasons) did not appeal to me. As I got older (like last 10 years) I have appreciated the game more. But still, I would be all for more scoring. Not sure how it would be possible though.

The thing about Soccer is that there is just so much more to the game than the actual goals. The build up to then an actual goal is one of my favorite parts and thus the game would be diluted if everything turned into a 8-5 or 7-6 game. Part of that is bias from playing the game I'm sure as well.

Indoor is much higher scoring but if you watch it, it loses its luster oddly enough. Although playing indoor soccer is easily my favorite. It's a freaking blast.

I think they should just adobt a variation of the lax rules and limit the number of people on each side of midfield

Even a 0-0 draw can be exciting depending on how the game goes. Chances off the woodwork or cleared off the line… against my team, my heart is in my throat. For my team, I’m up off the couch. The build up and scoring chances mean something.

Yeah there have been some unbelievable 1-0 games. The only ones that are hard to watch are like when you get Spain playing from 18 to 18 with 1 shot on goal. The horizontal and back passing holding 70 pct possession is awful to watch.

Yeah and then losing on penalty kicks after all that? Guessing penalty kicks seems largely luck based.
