It really shows that most people have no clue what happens on plays and blame on players for certain things happening.. All the talk of Allen locking in rcvrs. Yeah it happens but more by design than people really think. This is not the nfl and not Manning using his eyes to move DB's around.. People ignore that the NW Qbs locked in on one read all game as well but they had people wide open. We are running quick slants and short passes. very few of our pass plays have been designed or given time to go to the 2nd /3rd option.. He even mentions the one INT as being the rcvrs fault, that is happening alot and we dont know it because we dont get told unless you really listen to what Moore is saying in his interviews. The thing we lost with Sales/Lemon is that they were in the right spots and made the correct breaks . I think we have more athletic kids now but they dont get into the proper spots so often the plays are breaking down. Even West seems to have an issue as now he is being guarded by the #1 db more often and has to make better decisions to get open.

Hunt and Allen grading out the same should tell you something as Allen had much more work to do to get his reads corrected . He made a few bad throws but only 2 Ints were his fault.

About all we learned is that Hunt may have a probably has a better make something up factor when the play breaks down.

If Allen makes the same improvement from week 1 to 2 in week 3/4 we will be ok down the road.

My issue with Allen is that on two of his interceptions he had tunnel vision. Literally threw the ball to a NW defender who had been in front of a WR. That's a play he needs to tuck it or check off to someone else. It's not so much locking in on a receiver that I have an issue with. It's throwing to places that are obviously well defended because he isn't seeing the defenders.

WRs are at fault a lot more often than people think. A lot of times a QB looks terrible with his throws because the WRs either made the wrong read, ran the wrong route, ran a poor route, etc.

This made me laugh, however: "He made a few bad throws but only 2 Ints were his fault." Two INTs in a game should be considered as the benchmark of a bad game by the QB.

One against Penn State was a tunnel vision INT. Two against NW were tunnel vision INTs. He's on quite a roll.

again listen to what Lester says. . He isnt looking at rcvrs and for the most part QBs dont have time to stare down a DB. When the route is designed for a QB to watch a rcvr and expect him to go into the hole and the rcvr makes the wrong read thats going to cause issues.. If he continues to make the mistake than thats bad.. Having it happen in his 2nd start is to be expected.

This will improve as the game slows down for him. I hope the next two weeks he shows a tremendous improvement in his progressions.

I listened and one word came to mind: Coachspeak. You think the QB coach is going to throw the starting QB under the bus for awful decisions? For terrible play? Especially a kid that is clearly mindfl**ked right now and has almost zero confidence?

Also, the guy who is currently the starting QB for Syracuse has four years plus two games of college experience. Sorry if I expect a little bit more.

So what you are saying is that Ashton should play QB and we should go more spread option with our best athletes having the ball in space.

Because it sounds like it could be a long time from now before we see a passing game that works.

Does Rob Moore get a rebuttal?

Here is what I didn't like about what Lester said. He was knocking Hunt down for the 2 mistakes he made, both of which ultimately led to a touchdown. It's like he's looking for a robot. I'll take a guy who can make something happen by improvising anyday over a robot. Coach Lester, can you say "McNabb?" (And, no, I am not comparing Hunt to McNabb.)

Completely agree...Lester spelled it out perfectly. Allen will be fine with more reps...having said that i still want Hunt getting some playing time as well to prep for next year.

Me thinks Lester is defending his QB and trying to build him up.

I think the coaches pushed their chips in on Drew Allen, promised him the job and are now doing damage control, as well as build him up.

tell me a team that isnt..

If play A isn't there you move on. I understand that X amount of plays are but seriously, do you think progressions are never taught?

Syracuse last year.
try again.. we were a one read team for most of the games/plays.. big difference when it works.. NW was a one read team last week almost every pass. there were no progressions.

Nassib did a great job on pre snap read and throws. You wonder why he is struggling in the NFL.. it doesnt work as well.

I don't buy this at all. There was at least 1 interception and another 3 or 4 balls thrown that could have been interceptions where Allen stared at one receiver the whole time and then proceeded to rocket a pass at him even though there were about three people standing between the intended target and Allen. You would think a guy staring at the same place for 5 straight seconds could recognize this.

On the nice 20 yard completion Hunt had, he looked at a short option first, then threw the ball downfield to a guy that, miraculously, was not triple covered. Don't you think that might have had something to do with the fact that he didn't telegraph his throw like a Pop Warner QB?

Northwestern was a one read team because the first read was always wide open! High schools don't run one read offenses. What's the point of sending multiple receivers down field? I've never even heard of a one read offense before reading this thread.

did you not listen to the interview? yes he locked in, he is not mature enough to come off that rcvr.. the locking in is an issue but not on every throw.. and we seem to be ok when it works which it did most of the time since he threw 66%. and if the rcvrs had made the correct play as well at least 1 Int goes away and perhaps becomes a big play too. he didnt lock in 75% of the throws and make bad reads. he did it 5-10% of the time. it has to get lower to be good.. Hunt threw 4 balls and made bad reads 40% of his plays and people are wanting him to start.

you dont watch enough games then.

if you are going to talk about a video or a link... is it possible to link that to make it easier on the people that havent seen it?
