FHCDM and tension in Buffalo

All in all, to get back on topic a bit, I'm not sure why everyone thinks the guy should be pleased or happy. He's taken over two train wrecks for teams. He's never had a team capable of being a 10 win team. His sample size is too small, but if the guy was happy with finishing marginally over .500, wouldn't that be frightening?

Also at the time this fight occurred (and let's not believe everything we read here people re: quotes) management brought in Jordan Palmer to be QB2. That would tick anyone off.

If that article is accurate, he comes across as a major with no self-control. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if he doesn't make it through the season and I think he his demeanor has knocked him down from a future OC to OL coach (at least at first).
Calling himself a saint is laughable. Sure, he brought SU back some respectability, but nothing spectacular. After all, SU had been in similar straights in the past (admittedly not quite as bad) before rising higher than Marrone got us. So let's not make it seem like he pulled off a miracle. What Cutcliffe did at Duke is a miracle. What DM did at SU was merely admirable.

I'll love it if he goes back to college for his second "dream" job. I bet he's looking for houses in New Orleans right now. He did the job of OC (where he didn't call plays) very well down there.

I'm more interested in the Hackett angle. Assuming he's freed up, is there any scenario where he would come back here if GMac decides to take his recruiting talents elsewhere. George's future is 100% going to be in the SEC/ACC with his contacts down there.

His present is in the ACC too. ;)

Only way Hackett comes back is if he was the HC...and since he's been passed over once I wouldn't count on it.

He was .500 in the Big East. He sucks. him

i never talk in absolutes. Marrone proved that. Shafer could get canned if this team wins 2 games. All I'm saying is the scenario is there for Hackett to return at some point.[/QUOTE]

Orton I going to be great with Marrone , I think they make the playoffs .

Never liked Marrone especially for the way he treated former Cuse players.

Bears 38 Bills 10

LOL

Sources said Marrone has referred to himself as "Saint Doug" at times, referencing the fact that it takes two miracles to be canonized as a saint, and that he already pulled off one miracle by winning at Syracuse and alluding to the fact it would take another miracle to win in Buffalo.

what an ahole.

the front office sucks too if they think Kuondijo warranted a longer look

He did a great job at Syracuse University, but it was not a miracle.

The tradition and the long time commitment to big time football was there just waiting for a bit of money, some improved infrastructure and a solid coaching staff that was willing to invest in value recruiting.

The history of Syracuse Football makes clear - he did not pull off a miracle.

Tension with Personnel Department - new ownership on the horizon - another likely losing season - questions about EJ Manual - tough situation.

Man has a way of burning bridges.

Not necessarily the most desirable trait to have on one's resume, which he'll need to update soon.

Did he burn his bridges in the bayou? He could always go back to getting coffee for Payton.

And people were making fun of and laughing at a poster recently that suggested Marrone could very well be out after this year. I will never forget what he did for syracuse, but make no mistake it sounds like Marrone is a grade A off the field and its not just from this story. He brought us back from respectability and I will always be thankful but it seems like he is always unhappy. Syracuse was his dream job, but left in disgust after 4 years. Seems like he already hates his time in buffalo. Will he ever be happy? Coaching is stressful, but he just doesn't seem to enjoy it. You can tell other coaches love it, whens the last time Marrone laughed or smiled?

I agree with the one thought - he just doesn't seem happy.

You're right he got his dream job and was unhappy within a year.

It's a shame - he had a great gig in CNY - he could have been King for a lifetime.

I really like the guy - I think he is talented and he did a great job here but I'm still a little faklemped over the way he left.

the only way you make it to any success at a major school is to be a little nuts. anyone with enough perspective to know that you can have a better life somewhere below the highest level is probably not going to be good enough to be king for a lifetime.

some of them figure it out when they're pushed out of the profession and then they don't want back in at all

MFing everyone in front of players and reporters kind of casts some doubt that it's all the SU administration's fault for him not getting what he wants.

The story says he has referred to himself as St. Marrone, in part because it was a miracle he was able to win at Syracuse. Doesn't really say much about our beloved Orange, does it?

Link
Not to be overly pissy about it but Doug was .500 st SU.
That said, he is quite right - it was a miracle that he got us back on track. Does not offend me at all.

if if if if this is true Oh MY GOD

he's mad that they signed orton!

even if manuel were good, he's hurt all the time. if orton is a threat to your QB you don't have a QB

florio might be FOS though. this happened a while ago, might've been over jordan palmer

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/09/05/marrones-frustration-arises-from-orton-signing/

Why would he be ticked about bringing in Orton? He's been publically P.O.'d about the backup QB spot all summer long and said that the team would look to upgrade the position if possible. So why would he be ticked about them bringing in the best available option on the market?

Plus the argument came a week before the Orton signing.

The media is seriously off their collective rocker. These "league sources" don't exist. They're stirring the pot to get clicks. None of this report follows the actual timeline of events.

@ByTimGraham: Bills source reported to be involved in the spat tells me story is inaccurate, that Jim Monos wasn't present.

@ByTimGraham: Source tells me Marrone's "just fire me" quote was made over beers at a different time, everyone was laughing about it within minutes.

@ByTimGraham: Russ Brandon, Doug Marrone deny report of shouting match between coach, front office http://t.co/adRlBJV1vT

DiTullio: Bills Players don't respect Marrone

http://m.foxsports1280.com/onair/bi...o-bills-players-dont-respect-marrone-12738168

in over his head, doesn't command locker room, overworking players, not treating them like pros, personality all over the place, they loved pettine, didn't like schwartz but coming around to him. marrone not an NFL head coach. coming from the veterans

despite being a penn state guy, i like john a lot (friends used to work for him and he was very good to them)
