FHCDM and tension in Buffalo

@ByTimGraham: Bills source reported to be involved in the spat tells me story is inaccurate, that Jim Monos wasn't present.

@ByTimGraham: Source tells me Marrone's "just fire me" quote was made over beers at a different time, everyone was laughing about it within minutes.

@ByTimGraham: Russ Brandon, Doug Marrone deny report of shouting match between coach, front office http://t.co/adRlBJV1vT
Glad if this is all true. Concerning how believable it is though.

if if if if this is true Oh MY GOD

he's mad that they signed orton!

even if manuel were good, he's hurt all the time. if orton is a threat to your QB you don't have a QB

florio might be FOS though. this happened a while ago, might've been over jordan palmer

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/09/05/marrones-frustration-arises-from-orton-signing/

That episode happened weeks ago, Orton was signed in the last couple of days. How does that make any sense. They wouldn't have signed Palmer first.

Maybe when he called himself Saint Marrone, he meant Saints Marrone and was just saying he misses coaching for the Saints and having Sean Payton and Drew Brees to rely on:)

the only way you make it to any success at a major school is to be a little nuts. anyone with enough perspective to know that you can have a better life somewhere below the highest level is probably not going to be good enough to be king for a lifetime.

some of them figure it out when they're pushed out of the profession and then they don't want back in at all

MFing everyone in front of players and reporters kind of casts some doubt that it's all the SU administration's fault for him not getting what he wants.

I think you're right.

You have to be a little nuts or excessively egotistical or narcissistic or whatever to be a big time football coach.

Which is precisely why I chuckle when people question why some posters on the board think they know better than the coaches.

DiTullio: Bills Players don't respect Marrone

http://m.foxsports1280.com/onair/bi...o-bills-players-dont-respect-marrone-12738168

in over his head, doesn't command locker room, overworking players, not treating them like pros, personality all over the place, they loved pettine, didn't like schwartz but coming around to him. marrone not an NFL head coach. coming from the veterans

despite being a penn state guy, i like john a lot (friends used to work for him and he was very good to them)

Will you be changing your avatar to Doug's mug with a halo over it?

Why would he be ticked about bringing in Orton? He's been publically P.O.'d about the backup QB spot all summer long and said that the team would look to upgrade the position if possible. So why would he be ticked about them bringing in the best available option on the market?

Plus the argument came a week before the Orton signing.

The media is seriously off their collective rocker. These "league sources" don't exist. They're stirring the pot to get clicks. None of this report follows the actual timeline of events.
I could see the argument being about what's taking so long to get Orton signed, but not because they ultimately signed him (a week later).

God I'm so sick of all of this. Try not being pathetic for once this century Buffalo. The term "long suffering" fan should only apply to us Bills fans from here on out.
Not sure your age. I am a Browns fan. It is better to be 0-4 in Super bowls or NEVER getting to one? And it doesn't look like my Browns will be getting to one anytime soon. :(

EDIT: and the knife in the back was Baltimore winning the Super bowl after they left Cleveland. (OK I'm done) ;)

Anytime the QB is Cutler, I think it's a decent matchup for our defense.

This happened 2-3 weeks ago. Hopefully it's all cleared up by now.

Don't watch too many games other than the Bills? Cutler has lost games against very good teams but he's not going to be the reason you have a tiny chance of winning Sunday.

Unless there are two different episodes. I said if if if if , I'm skeptical

I had forgotten about it until some posters freaked out about it so thanks to them I'm leaving it forever

Anyway. The reason I say Cutler is a good match up against our defense is due to the fact that out of the upper echelon QBs in the league, of which Cutler is on the fringe, he can be rattled. The Bills have one of the best defensive lines in the league along with Seattle and St Louis (2 teams I apparently never watch according to your first sentence). When you have a great defensive line and a QB who can be rattled, then yea, it gives you a chance.

I do agree Cutler wont be the reason Buffalo wins. The winner will be whoevers question mark plays better.. Chicago's defense or Buffalo's offense.

Twice.

Once over the Giants.

Cutler can definitely be rattled and their O-Line was not impressive in preseason at all. If you can pass the ball efficiently you will be able to put up points. Chicago's defense is weak at all positions.

Doug just dug his own grave. The chances a new owner keeping him were slim and none to begin with. Now if the final sale goes through in Oct or November and if the team is losing he just gave any new owner a reason to fire him when pen goes to paper. It's not often NFL head coaches get fired "in-season"...Doug might be the rare exception. The team isn't good. They messed up on the QB selection of EJ Manuel. If Doug had a voice in trading away next years 1st round pick for Sammy Watkins of all people...huge mistake. They could have stayed where they were and drafted Odell Beckham and kept next years #1 which was the better play to make. Now arguing with the GM on the field in front of the team and everyone at a practice.

Doug is Done! He was done the day Ralph Wilson died but this just cemented it and removed any remote chance he had of staying on

I wonder what his next "dream job" will be?

Yeah Odell Beckham that would have been a great pick. The same Beckham who hasnt played a snap this year and who is out for god knows how long? Your entire post makes no sense since the article has already been refuted and is obviously not true since Orton didnt come in until after the alleged argument. If the Bills have a bad year (which as a Bills fan I can admit is likely) then Marrone's job will be in jeopardy. But to say he is done now is stupid.

I would rather have Beckham and have next years #1 pick (Which might be a TOP 3 overall pick) than Sammy Watkins (who is also currently hurt and dinged up) and not have a pick till in the 30's next year. Trading up in Round 1 for a WR in the NFL is a mistake. It was a huge mistake. Trade up for a QB, a LT, a DE, a DT...ok. Premier positions that have more value than a WR. You can find WR's anywhere in the draft.

NO NFL head coach survives when change of ownership takes place. Doug is a dead man walking. History just shows that. In Cleveland, Jax, Miami...all recent ownership changes the standing head coach was FIRED. Go back a little further, Atlanta, Dallas, Jets, Minnesota...new owner, fires head coach and brings in his people. Same will happen in Buffalo. It always happens in the NFL..just look it up!

SWC, you really should drop the "dream job" jab. You don't know what went on behind the scenes -- and can you not envision a situation where he got here and realized it wasn't the job he thought it was? In part because I love the movie -- and because you think he should've explained his reasoning for leaving -- I wish he'd given a two-sentence last presser (channelling "Rushmore"): "I saved Latin. What did you ever do?"

The bill have been picking in the top 12 for the last decade and what do we have to show for it? Its about time the team took a gamble, I don't see Atlanta fans all upset over the move to go and get Julio Jones, was that a mistake to? Let me know how many Julio Jones you can find anywhere in the draft.

Again if the Bills struggle Marrone is likely gone that is obvious there is no need to look anything up, its obvious. That said if Buffalo somehow goes 9-7 there's zero chance Marrone will be fired, ZERO.

I would also take Watkins over Beckham any day. Watkins will be out there Sunday let me know when Beckham makes it out there.

While I share your view about Watkins, I think Doug won't survive at 9-7. Lovie got fired with better than Doug's record. NFL owners (other than JJ) have very few football decisions to make so they usually want their own guys.

Crusty the Bills haven't had a winning record in a decade, if they go 9-7 Bills fans will throw a parade, trust me he will be back.

Yes and they have had the same owner. If you are going to deal in logic we can't talk about NFL owners and what they will do!
