FHCDM and tension in Buffalo

Yes and they have had the same owner. If you are going to deal in logic we can't talk about NFL owners and what they will do!

True but the fan backlash would be tremendous if he was let go after a winning season. Like I said before Marrone will earn a third year based on the on field performance, probably needs .500 season at least to survive.

Doug just dug his own grave. The chances a new owner keeping him were slim and none to begin with. Now if the final sale goes through in Oct or November and if the team is losing he just gave any new owner a reason to fire him when pen goes to paper. It's not often NFL head coaches get fired "in-season"...Doug might be the rare exception. The team isn't good. They messed up on the QB selection of EJ Manuel. If Doug had a voice in trading away next years 1st round pick for Sammy Watkins of all people...huge mistake. They could have stayed where they were and drafted Odell Beckham and kept next years #1 which was the better play to make. Now arguing with the GM on the field in front of the team and everyone at a practice.

Doug is Done! He was done the day Ralph Wilson died but this just cemented it and removed any remote chance he had of staying on

Lifetime contract based on that then.

He was .500 in the Big East. He sucks. him

Ha, get a grip man. He inherited mostly D2 players and had 60 scholarship players in his first year and didn't have a full roster until his 3rd year. What he did in 4 years was impressive and not many other coaches could've done better IMO.

him? No the administration for allowing Syracuse to get so bad before he got hired.

As many know im not a huge Doug fan because of how he left and the fact that he seemed arrogant when we met him. Still he did a great job turning us around and i dont wish him anything but luck. He is Orange through and through and there are a lot of guys namely his assistants who will be hurt if he doesnt make it. How he left was poor at best but he is still a Syracuse guy

If there were a neutral button option (as opposed to like or dislike, of course) I'd give this one -- it's a balanced view of the guy (or so I think). I have no qualms with how he left, and I can't deny anyone their feelings.

A giraffe would have done better than GROB.

The bill have been picking in the top 12 for the last decade and what do we have to show for it? Its about time the team took a gamble, I don't see Atlanta fans all upset over the move to go and get Julio Jones, was that a mistake to? Let me know how many Julio Jones you can find anywhere in the draft.

Again if the Bills struggle Marrone is likely gone that is obvious there is no need to look anything up, its obvious. That said if Buffalo somehow goes 9-7 there's zero chance Marrone will be fired, ZERO.

I would also take Watkins over Beckham any day. Watkins will be out there Sunday let me know when Beckham makes it out there.
1) If the Bills go 9-7 and miss the playoffs guess what, Doug will still get fired. Doug is getting fired short of winning the Super Bowl hate to break to to you guys
2) Watkins isn't Julio Jones and what the hell has Atlanta ever won? It was a dumb move for them too! Their trophy case is looking pretty empty

Crusty the Bills haven't had a winning record in a decade, if they go 9-7 Bills fans will throw a parade, trust me he will be back.
It's NOT the fans call. it's the guy who is gonna fork over close to or over $1 billion in the next month or so who makes that call.

And when you fork over that kind of money you sorta hire who ya want and start fresh! Like has happened with EVERY OTHER owner in the NFL in the past decade or so

If you think Marrone is getting fired if he goes 9-7 then you know nothing about Buffalo.

This whole thread is like a soap opera where you want take a baseball bat and whack the crap out of the TV cause your so sick of watching crappy TV that by pulverizing the TV you have no more risk of seeing crap like that ever again as you would rather not watch anything than risk the slightest chance seeing that crap causing you to take another swing at a new TV so I hope I never have to see crap like this ever again or I'm whacking my iPad next...

Don't get me wrong: I hope he succeeds, too.

But if he doesn't, I wonder if he'll regret ever having left Syracuse.

He won't. He simply won't.

He will have millions of reasons not to.

If you think what he did here was run of the mill you really have no idea what the state of the program was. I mean you really don't.

You don't even know who the new owner is!!! Like I said, name the last "new owner" who kept his head coach. You can't. They all get fired! He's getting fired.

9-7 in the NFL is crap. I don't care what city its in. You talk about Buffalo as it's some magical place or where "regular NFL standards" don't apply and they got special ways of doing things. When you trade away next years #1 draft pick you better win double digit games and go far in the playoffs.. Being at or around .500 isn't good enough its garbage!

If they got 9-7, he'd be closer to getting his name at the top of the stadium in the wall of fame than he would be to getting fired.

I think his statement says more about how low a bar GRob set.

I heard it here more than once while he was our head coach..."We have turned the corner."

So he must have done the near impossible. (Unless you have questions about the credibility of this (beloved) board.

Yes but a giraffe wouldn't have taken over a team that lost at home to Akron, had gone 10-37 in the prior 4 years and within 4 years have two bowl wins, 3 wins over WVU(2 blowouts), a blowout over Louisville, a win at Mizzou(yeah I know they went 5-7 that year and their best player was suspended). A saint? I think not. A hell of a coaching job by DM? I think so, yes
