Filipowski better be suspended

The kid jumped over him. Was it a trip? Probably. He fell over him, lost his balance and hit the floor. Suspension worthy? Who knows. And in the end i really could care less to be honest.
Flip fell down and Duke was about to face 5 vs 4. He had to slow that guy down and it is the straightforward thing to do in Flip's condition. I fall, you fall.

On some levels what Filipowski did was worse than what BuddyB did. Filipowski could've potentially injured Ingram's wrist/hand/leg, at most Buddy's punch maybe gave the Louisville player a sore tummy for a few hours if not minutes.

Injuries are one of the two reasons why you can't tolerate that stuff. The other reason is the possibility of escalation.

And Buddy admitted he threw a punch, he didn't say he flinched or made up some other story. Filipowski will probably never admit he intentionally tripped Ingram.

And if the ACC does nothing they're worse than him.

The cope is insane. They’re both stupid awful decisions that deserve suspensions

Selfish Syracuse fan counter point...

We should want Flip to play because the only way we get even on the bubble is beating them and UNC, full strength. Yes, I know its tougher (prob impossible), but that's the realistic spot we're in.
The only way to make the NCAA Tournament is to win the ACC championship. Much easier if Flip ain’t playing.

I’m kind of 50/50 on whether the trip is worthy of a suspension. See both sides of the argument. I just want there to be consistency.

If previous instances in the ACC of players tripping their opponents resulted in a 1 game suspension I want that to be the result here. If they haven’t, then don't suspend him.

Both were cheap and I mean what was Buddy going to say - I inadvertently balled my fist and punched a guy?

I expect the Duke kid to get nothing and I still don't understand why that can't be looked at during the next stoppage.

So what’s the call then? An instinct play to use a player to get back up that’s bang bang should be a common foul and then the blatant trip should be what? Not sure how Ingram’s play in any way minimizes Filipowskis much more deviant play.

It’s a stupid play by Filipowski and I guess you could argue a loose ball foul on Ingram at the most.

If any stripe actually saw it a play on. The alternative is 5 minutes at the video monitor.

But I think it's time I move on from this one :)

In simpler times I absolutely agree but from the sake of fairness given this crap is reviewed after the game then they should get the same treatment.

ACC will make an announcement that Flip will be suspended for the first game of the Summer NBA season.

Announcement will be made two hours before the quarterfinal tipoff.

Yeah, well, not all pictures are created equally. In the case of Buddy's punch, that picture indeed painted a thousand words. One in which he left himself with no wiggle room whatsoever, so of course he had absolutely zero choice than to admit to the incredibly (without any reasonable doubt) obvious intentional act.

Additionally, it's why the egregious act was dealt with so quickly by ACC powers that be.

Buddy should have been suspended and was.

Flip should be suspended. Should have just admitted to it. But probably won't be (just a guess, but maybe they'll surprise me).

This is a southern conference that thought a big deal was moving HQ from G'boro to CLT. This is what we deal with.

The provincialism of the ACC is contributing to why its so unstable - The Big Ten/SEC would be going after targets regardless, but the reality of the ACC is all but four schools mostly hate the conference and would rather be away from the Carolina mafia if there was any other option. Its part of why I so badly want UNC to go to the Big Ten - I don't think they are prepared for the reaction they will get the first time they tell Ohio St and Michigan "well, here's what we're thinking..."

I somewhat admire Flip's commitment to being a heel - its like he's been taking lessons from Ted Dibiase. He's working up to just kicking the basketball away from opposing players and laughing at them I guess...

Well, whether one chooses to buy into the continuous "southern conference" mantra around here, one thing is certain, that Charlotte is quite a magnificent city and metropolis, not to mention a banking leader with incredible diversity, growth and prosperity, etc.

Greensboro and Charlotte are night and day differences. With all due respect, it appears your relative ignorance is what may need to be "dealt" with.

Everything about this league is a joke. The trip is being covered by every major news outlet.

When the kid from Clemson undercut Wendell Moore last year he was immediately suspended the next day. Every AD in the league should be on the phone with HQ regarding this. They pick and choose what they want to penalize.
